I was just wondering what is the latest news on the relationship between the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Church in India.

I think they're in communion.  They're both OO.  I'm not aware of any OO's that are not in communion, but it doesn't mean there isn't.

The Syriac Orthodox Church had problems with the daughter Church in India because the Indian Church wanted autocephaly.  The SOC, appealing to the primacy of St. Peter, refused.  So there was a schism in the Indian Church - one group remaining in communion with the Patriarchate, the other group proclaiming independence.

That was what I read last about it many months ago.  You're saying everything is settled now?  In what way?  Did the SOC grant independence, or did the separated portion of the Indian Church return to unity?

The Church is in good ecumenical relationship with the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches.

Thank you deeply for your research.  I could have done it myself.  I came here to ask the question simply because it seemed to me like the quickest way to find out (given my limited time).

As I stated earlier, there is indeed a portion of the Indian Church still in communion with the OO, so the website you mention doesn't come as a surprise.

I do distinctly remember (those many months ago) that at one website (it was a Syriac Orthodox website), there was a ban on discussion of the topic.  I'm not sure if that was an internal ban in the website, or if there was some ecclesiastical ban going on.  It would seem sensible to have an ecclesiastical ban, to prevent scandal.

In any case, I will do my own research (would you like me to post the results here, if you are interested?).  Once again, thank you deeply for your research.  I did not intend anyone to go through any trouble on my account. I simply thought the info would be more readily accesible here.
