W is Methodist, and from what I hear part of  the confessing movement therin.  I stress this is just speculation, but he is definitly Methodist.  there was a big write up about it in one of hte conservite methodist e-zines and on David Virtue's Virtueosity list.  

Jakub, W is pro life?  I have been active in the prolife circuit for some time now.  No W is not prolife.  He throws a few crumbs to the prolifers to keep them appeased and get their vote (believe you me this partial birth abortion ban will be all throughout his campaign speaches next year).  Has he overturned roe v wade or made any real significant steps in that direction? unfortunatly with the single exception of hte partial birth ban, no.

That said, IMHO he is the best president this nation has had since Ronald Reagan in terms of foreign policy.  I don't think the alternative would have been able to keep it all together after 9 11.

A)  George Bush cannot overturn Roe v. Wade.  Only the Supreme Court can do that.

B)  No Justices have died or retired during his administration.  Therefore, he cannot appoint anyone who will be supportive of an overturn of Roe v. Wade.

C)  Even if he did try to appoint someone, s/he would have to get through a Senate confirmation, which may or may not even get out of committee.  You can bet your bottom dollar that the next person submitted for Senate confirmation will get grilled about his or her stance on abortion.

Therefore...

D)  There's very little the president can do regarding Roe v. Wade.  Signing the Partial Birth Abortion bill is definitely a step in the right direction, crumb or not.  

Welcome to politics.  If he were any more aggressive, he would not be president right now, which he is by the narrowest of margins to begin with.
