Anyone seen this before?  I thought this might be something middle eastern (e.g. Lebanese, Palestinian or Jordanian), but maybe I'm wrong.  Anyone have an idea?  Those I have asked so far don't know....even suggested that it might be Jewish.  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

Long, rectangular scarves can be quite comfortable and practical to wear.  I prefer them over other types of head coverings, especially when made of cotton, as cotton doesn't slip off your head so easily.  I never particularly associated them with an ethnic group, but they are not uncommon at my church, which is Armenian Orthodox.

Interestingly, in my parish, the women who cover their heads are either young or elderly. The young seem to prefer scarves, much like this, and the elderly, hats. No middle-aged women cover their heads, though.

I've left the ends loose like that once in a while, since I can't stand things around my neck.  I prefer mantillas, though.
