I almost always use Mozilla Firefox except when I'm absolutely forced to use Internet Explorer. However, seeing that Microsoft just released their Internet Explorer 8, I decided to download, install, and try it. The first thing I did was try this forum out with the new browser. Before I saw anything else, I noticed the funny behavior that happens after I enter 15 lines of text. The post editor just will not scroll, and every time I type in a character, the editor automatically refreshes so that the "overflow" text is not seen. The new text is not erased; my view of it just gets cut off when the post editor auto-refreshes.
I may not be describing the problem all that clearly, so let me instruct you on how to replicate this bug. First, download and install IE 8 on your computer, reboot your computer as instructed, then open this forum with IE 8. After you've done this, either quote a long post, or type in at least 15 full lines of whatever text you like. Either way, this will be more than enough to activate the vertical scrollbar and make the scroll thumb (that doohicky that you can click and drag to scroll the control up or down) available. Now continue to type text into a 16th line and note what happens. I tried this in both Windows XP and Vista and got the same result. I have not seen this in IE 7.
I don't know if this is something we want to fix, since it appears that OC.net is designed first to be compatible with Firefox and other non-Microsoft browsers and not so much with Internet Explorer, but I thought it would be good for me to at least bring up what I've seen.
