I've been getting a database error message whenever I try to post recently. It began a few minutes ago. My post goes through, but I get the error message every time.

EDIT: Including when I posted this message.

2nd EDIT: But when I merely modified this message, it didn't occur.

Yup, I have noticed that clicking the "Show unread posts since last visit." causes it too.

So does "show new replies to your posts," but only if you have read all new replies.

I think Fr. Anastasios has been awake all last night working- I'm not sure we should disturb him about this.

I've been getting it, too.

Edit Like when I tried to post this.  However, all I had to do was click "back" and then "refresh" and the post appeared.

I get it as well, it says there's an error when I try to post. When I try to post again, it says that I already have submitted the post. And when I go back to the thread, sure enough it's there.

I had the same thing via PC.

However, its also looking odd via my Blackberry.  I bookmarked the site, and click on "forum" usuaaly.  Just now, I get to the home screen, but, "forum" isn't there.

I had to browse my history in order to actually reach the site.

When I hit 'Post' it tells me of a database error and suggests that I try again.

First time it happened, I back arrowed - copied the post for safety sake - and pasted it into a new reply box. When I hit 'Post', it gave me that warning that another post had been made while I was typing and that I might want to review it before submitting mine. I posted anyway - without looking - and then found that the 'another post' was my own initial one - posted even though the database error indicated that it had not done so.

Many years,

Neil

I've been getting this too, plus the data base error when trying to post once I am finally in.

The way I access the forum now is to Google the forum name plus my handle here. That's gets me in.

Also I am not being notified when posts are added to topics where I've contributed.

So if I am moderated I may not know for hours or even a day and maybe never if I forget all the places I've posted...Not that I am planning anything but one never knows what might be taken badly.

I switched to a different computer as well as a different ISP (we have 6 computers here, and 3 ISPs....part of running a business from home, and having a kid who attends school online), and now I can not only get to OC.net and see "forum"at the top of the homepage (before I couldn't), but lo and behold, I can also access CAF now too.  Grin

I've once attended a Church camp when one of the leaders was the Priest (well, actually it's the norm). We once had a dinner in a restaurant. Imagine the reactions of other guests when 20+ children and young teenagers called one man "father".

Time to re-index the DB.

The immediate cause is that we run out of memory at peak times.  Re-indexing the DB might help, but I also need to see what else can be optimized on the server itself.
