A student of mine told me earlier this morning that her daughter woke up with a complete amnesia. She does not remember literally anything - what is her name, who are her parents, what year it is, etc. In addition, her doctors say that she is in a state of permanent fear and anxiety. No statements about the probable cause were made; the only one thing that might give some clues is that this girl is a member of a girls' soccer team and there were edisodes in the past when she hit her head on the ground or on the goal post. The mom is, of course, devastated. May I ask your prayers for the girl and her family.

This is really terrible! Most cases of amnesia are temporary, so hopefully this girl will recover.
Dear Lord, please help Your handmaiden to overcome the problem. Lord, have mercy! Dear Savior, please grant the complete recovery.

Thank you all for your kindness and prayers! I am at home now (spring break), but I remain in touch with Denise (my student and the mother of the ill girl) through e-mail. She just dropped me the message that Ashlee, her daughter, had been released from the hospital. She still has a profound amnesia, but at least she calmed down, and her doctor believes that "things will come back." Denise re-introduced Ashlee to her siblings (Ashlee has two - I never actually realized that Denise has 3 children, she looks very young). The doctor advised Denise to have regular "lessons" with Ashlee, teaching her a foreign language with the help of a tool like "Rosetta Stone." Interestingly, it seems to help children with amnesia to not only learn the foreign language, but also to retrieve the lost memory about their own identity, family, community etc.
Again, many thanks to you all for your prayerful support.
