Recommended Books

i'm trying to find more about the history of the church and the lives/miracles of the saints, etc. -- therefore what books do you recommend?  so far this is the best i could do lol

http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Idiots-Guide-Early-Christianity/dp/1592577563/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236400174&sr=8-1

also if anyone has the orthodox study bible, is it different/better than the "new american bible" (RC english version)?  i've heard the orthodox bible uses king james translation and is just outdated in terms of practical everyday use.

thanks

I would most definitely recommend Metropolitan Kallistos Ware's book "Orthodox Church":

Welcome!  Try some of the books on this thread: http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/forum/index.php/topic,15678.0.html

I found Letters to Saint Lydia, by Melinda Johnson and interesting read with a striking conversion story embedded.
