The background and skin colour... you can see the whole icon and from another perspective on the previous page 55.

in medieval imagery a parrot was a symbol for "the word made flesh" (because they could repeat human speech).

I like the color scheme, though.
Is any of the above Orthodox?  I have no idea, so there’s that.

Pray for me, a wretched sinner.

Jacob wrestled with God all through the night.  At the break of day, he became Israel.

For Fr. Stamatis's work, it's tame enough that I like it too.

Icon of the innocents (Ikona nevinih). Painted by Croatian Catholic. It's an allusion to children martyrs from Bethlehem and victims of abortion, you can find it in this article: https://www.bitno.net/vijesti/hrvatska/zelite-izljecenje-rana-abortusa-pak-dar-roditeljstva-pavlini-pozivaju-dodite-pomolite-se-pred-ovom-ikonom/

I don't really understand the idea of having the children's heads. It looks kind of unsettling because I don't see the bodies. Maybe the bodies are under the cloud floor?

I think I've seen Western versions of cherubim that are exactly this: childrens' heads with wings but no bodies. Usually they're just babies with wings, though.

I found versions where abbreviations for the apostles are marked.

Peter and Paul are in the middle.
I think John and Matthew are on top.
Under them are Mark and Luke, respectively. That is:

John.................................Matthew
Mark...Peter...Christ...Paul...Luke

I guess that underneath them on the left are Andrew, James, and Thomas, whereas on the right are Simeon, Bartholomew, and Philip. But it's not as certain because we are dealing with abbreviations, and those are the apostles who come to mind the strongest with those abbreviations. There was an apostle Thaddeus, but he seems less known than Thomas, and Thomas is commonly drawn as young. So the young Th apostle seems to be Thomas.

It has quotation from canon of the Sunday of the Forefathers about Noah.
