Definitely not Lenin. The kid seems to be wearing Old Believer outfit, so the problem might be just television itself.

That's what I was afraid of :( I hope technology, as much as it has spiritually harmed people, does not make angels cry.

It can be also an art, it's done by a Serbian nun from Jasenovac; it presents Serbian Orthodox chidlren that were killed by Roman Catholics in Jasenovac during the second world war around the Christ

Zionist conspiracy of the well.

It could indicate that Christ is the Son of David

Dangerous symbolism, since not only are there obvious political conotations in conflating the ancient character and the modern state, but also there's a whole widespread heretical theology almost inseparable (dispensationalism)...

I understand where you’re coming from Dominika, but on this point I beg to differ on the basis of charity, pastoral necessity and actual danger:

Considering the psychological stress of both airline passengers and some flight crews (pilots with personal setbacks or who are battling with psychological issues), and the extreme peril that can exist in aviation, which is ordinarily extremely safe, but something like an incorrectly configured pressurization system can kill an entire 737, as happened in Greece, with nothing anyone, even thr FA who reached the cockpit before losing consciousness, could do about it, I am going with “strange” rather than “shlock” on the basis of pastoral care).*

For that matter, if it were in Russia and featured an Aeroflot jet, or if it were in Poland and featured a LOT jet, this would remain unchanged.**

* This was not Olympic Airlines, but it was a Greek or Cypriot airline, IIRC.
** Aeroflot, LOT and Olympic Airways are all relatively safe these days; Aeroflot used to have a bad reputation but has improved considerably, and in the tragic crash of the Sukhoi Su-95 earlier this year, it looks like the flight crew professionally conducted the evacuation (the First Officer had to rope out of the cockpit rather than using the slides due to smoke, and the time required to step through the Emergency Evacuation checklist, which is usually done by the first officer, who will be younger, have better memory and faster reflexes walking through this extremely critical checklist, so the Captain can escape with the passenger manifest and assist evacuation).

Aviation safety is not a joke, and indeed the Western hymn “Lord guard and guide” has had a verse added for the safety of air travellers since the 20th century.  So we are well within the pale of Orthodoxy here I think.

Now, could this ikon be better?  Obviously.  But it has a valid pastoral reason which relates to the safety of the millions of civillian flightcrews and passengers at peril in the sky, every day.

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel that way Hecma?

Ok.  But just to be clear, you are not opposed to icons written in the context of chapels for the pastoral care of aviators and air travellers?  Because it seems to me that latter point should be uncontroversial.  The only slightly shlocky thing about this icon, but its understandable and forgivable IMO, is it being a Greek aircraft.   Air Force actually, I think?  A generic aircraft without a national livery might be hypothetically preferable, because every crash is a tragedy.

It seems like young Alexander is getting a stern lecture for playing that rock music too loudly.

Not an icon, but still on topic. Statue of St. Michael the Archangel with Native American features stepping onto a devil with European features. Crafted during the Guaranitic Wars, in which Catholic Guaranis fought against both Portugal and Spain for the survival of Jesuitic missions, even though the Jesuits themselves had already given up before the war even started.
