I dig it.
Mencius said, “Instruction makes use of many techniques. When I do not deign to instruct someone, that too is a form of instruction.”

I like it as well. The bottom half gives me Chinese watercolor vibes.

I want it framed with an on/off switch to play sounds of digital water flowing.

In Dominika's set, I am curious as to why, in one icon, the Lord appears dark blue. Does that indicate humility?

Also, who is the saint carrying the square frame?

No problem. It's a bizarre way to depict him, I can understand why one wouldn't think it was him.

This is incredibly cute. I can get the identity of the five men and what they're holding (Daniel 9, Ezechiel and the doors of the prince, Isaiah 7, David and Psalm 2, Moses and the burning bush), but does anyone have any idea of what is written in the strips?

Coptic iconography meets graffiti on the A Train?  The Theotokos looks puzzled at the presence of the Old Testament Prophets.  St. Joseph looks like he wishes they'd leave.
I'm with the camp of 13 million Americans that believe politicians are, or are controlled by, Reptilians. I think only monks can solve this problem. It doesn't seem right that they prefer to ignore it.

Not an icon, strictly speaking. It's from a 13th Century manuscript.

The Theotokos punches the devil in the face.

I actually recall some icons, including in my own church, where there's a larger picture with Christ and other people, and many smaller others in the details.

They are in Bohairic; I haven't teased out what the one draped across the Lord says, but the top two say something like:

ⲟⲩϣⲫⲏⲣⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲟⲝⲟⲛ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲛⲓⲥⲙⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ
A paradoxical wonder according to the prophetic words:

ⲡⲓϫⲓⲛⲙⲓⲥⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲑⲉⲛⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲛⲁⲕϩⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲩⲙⲁⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ
The virginal birth and spiritual travails.

I studied Sahidic a lot more than I did Bohairic, and I'm a bit rusty...

Woe is me, that I have read the commandments,
and have become learned in the Scriptures,
and have been instructed in Your glories,
and yet I have become occupied in shameful things!

"Pijinmisi" is a hymn in our Church.  It's the other way around: "The virgin birth and spiritual travails; a paradoxical wonder according to the prophetic words."

The one on Christ says "Pihi-eeb ente efNouti afi epikosmos" (The Lamb of God came into the world.)

Then the prophets: Daniel chapter 9; Isaiah chapter 7; and Psalm 2
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

The New Martyrs of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries.

This should be in the Schlock Icons thread.

This is a Roman Catholic commission, and its content is, in a word, syncretist and ecumenist in its "all Christians are equal" meaning. It includes Baptists as well as Orthodox and Roman Catholics, either as actual individuals, or as generic representations of categories of people.

It's one thing for the RCC to commission a Martyrs and Confessors icon featuring Roman Catholic saints of the 20th-21st centuries, at least it would have some place in that church. This mishmash has no merit at all.

Who'd be the Baptists, though?
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

It looks like it says something about the "Great Tribulation".....in Italian, maybe?
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

The ones in the Romanian prison at lower left, along with RC and Orthodox prisoners.

Note also the use of the term "western Orthodox" in the description of this painting. It does not refer to Orthodox Christians of western lands.
