:cwm12:  The Cubs finally did it folks. Its a miracle. We just won our third game in Wrigly Field South. A salute to all my fellow eternal optimists, err I mean Cubs fans.

A few signs I saw after the game in the stands:

"Is This Heaven?"

"Cubtoberfest"

"Miracles Do Happen!"

"Harry is here with us"

"The Curse is Over"

"Next Year is Here. Go Cubs"

"Hey Hey; Holy Cow" (with Harry Carey's profile)

"The Cubs are Red Hot and its Freezing in Hell"

Jeo Zollars

PS:  I realize this is not particularly religious oriented, but....  Also where is the jumping for joy emoticon?

I've always been a Braves and a Cubs fan.  But I just couldn't be for the Braves.  When I lived in Atlanta I once drove 15 miles to retrieve a Cub's hat that a friend had lost out of the window.

GO CUBBIES!!!!!!

To bad the Cubs lost last night.  :-(
Tonight I have the grand delema of which of my 2 home teams to cheer for...  Yankees are the ancestral team of my dad's side of my family, (he grew up in Nyack) Red Sox of my mum's (she grew up in Boston & her fam still lives there & has season tickets).  I'll probably go for the Red Sox, because, unlike the Yankees, they haven't been in, much less won a World Series since before my family came to the U.S.

cool

well I guess y'all can guess I'm gunna root for the cubbies tonight.  A thought on it, the cubs havent' been in since before WWI.  Yeah were excited.  If it wasn't for that wind last night, we woulda won.  When the wind is blowing out from wrigly, it is VERY easy to get homers.

Yeah, that was just terrible. If Wood had been pitching, the Cubs would have grilled the Marlins for dinner.

Red Sox won!!!  YEAY!!!  Hopefully tonight they'll be able to repeat it, knock on wood.  Drove my sister nuts last night, refused to let her watch Law & Order, watching Red Sox win much more important.  :-D

that's true Ania!  I can't wait for teh redsox-cubs world series.  That will Rock!

If only yesterday wasnt' wendsday I coulda had FRIED MARLAN for dinner.

I do have to say that those were the two most exciting baseball games I've seen in my entire life.  I couldn't get cubs on tv so I watched the playbyplay at www.cubs.com while I watched the Yankees Redsox game on the tv.  So I was up to 4 in the morning doing my homework, who cares the cubs won!

So what is all this 95-year-curse stuff? I mean, the Cubs won the NLDS, which wasn't even around then. The curse hasn't been lifted yet, then?

Actually, just did some research...
Apparently the Sox did go to the World Series in '86.  Anyway, very sad, Sox lost last night.  At least they'll be playing at Fenway next, homefield advantage & all that.  Anyone got $180 to splurge for the first 2 Series games at Fenway (eternal optimism once again)?  Wish I did.  Games 1 & 2 will be (if they beat the Yanks) at Fenway, 3, 4, & 5 are away, 6 & 7 at Fenway again...

I was interviewed on local TV Channel 40 for a spot on the 5 pm news a few days ago (yeah, now I'm a TV celebrity!) Cool.  I was proud to say that I had been a supporter of the Bosox ever since the days of Carl Yastrzemski!  (Most of you guys are too young to know who he was-- :'()  And I was very TV photogenic and camera friendly too, btw!  Smiley

I'm praying for the Marlins.  Last night's game was a heartbreaker. :'(

WOW! Shocked

What a great game by the Marlins!  A two hit shutout by Beckett.  Awesome!

Not that I expect the Marlins to win 2 more games in a row, but it's nice that they're holding on a little bit longer....

Mor, first Monophysitism and now this tsk tsk tsk.

Actually Jenny, I am from the sovreign state of Arkansas.  However after the war (between the states) my family left Ash County North Carolina to go up to northern illoinois (after a brief Haitus in Oklahoma) and have been cubs fans for 5 generations now.

as an aside, my great great great grandfather was there in 1908, my Great Grandfather was there in 1945, and I'll be there in spirit (via FOX and WGN radio which strangely enough we can pick up here in Kansas) this year.

Though I would be extremely saddened if the Red Sox lose, due to family loyalties, I will then cheer for the Yankees.

At least tonight we are back in God's Little Acre err, I mean Wrigly Field! Lets just hope the wind ain't blowin out like it was during the first game.  We need a quick shut out of the marlans so that Prior and Wood will have to rest their arms before the start of the World Series.
