My Housemate's Mother - Memory Eternal
« on: February 08, 2009, 12:44:36 AM »
I just received news from my housemate, Athanasios (real name concealed for security reasons), that his mother, Joan, died today.  Her health had been declining for the last several months but took an unexpected nosedive this afternoon.  Joan was in her mid 80's, so she lived a good, long life.  To my knowledge, she was not Orthodox.

May the memory of the handmaid of God, Joan, be eternal, and may God grant comfort to Athanasios, his siblings, and all those who will grieve Joan's departure from this life.  (To my knowledge, her husband had already preceded her in death.)
Not all who wander are lost.

May her memory be eternal!
As a result of a thousand million years of evolution, the universe is becoming conscious of itself, able to understand something of its past history and its possible future.

Lord have mercy.
"O Cross of Christ, all-holy, thrice-blessed, and life-giving, instrument of the mystical rites of Zion, the holy Altar for the service of our Great Archpriest, the blessing - the weapon - the strength of priests, our pride, our consolation, the light in our hearts, our mind, and our steps"
Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.

Two corrections to what I said in the OP (My housemate was gone when I started this thread, but has since returned.):

Joan was in her mid 80's...
She was 79.

(To my knowledge, her husband had already preceded her in death.)
Her husband is still alive.

Eternal be her memory, and may the Lord comfort and give hope to her family members still here who are hurting.
