Volcano in Alaska
« on: January 31, 2009, 12:01:12 AM »
There is word just on the news, that a volcano is threatening to blow near Anchorage Alaska, the cradle of Orthodoxy in the New World.

Let us prayer that it does not approach disaster proportions.
Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth

Lord, have mercy!
As a result of a thousand million years of evolution, the universe is becoming conscious of itself, able to understand something of its past history and its possible future.

Lord have mercy!

Here is an article about that volcano. Even though it is 100 miles from Anchorage, when this volcano erupted in 1989 it sent ash that affected aircraft 150 miles away from the volcano...

and here is an article about the 4.5 earthquake in the Seattle area...

The Ring of Fire is starting to wake up in this part of the world, it looks like!

It never really went to sleep, if the recent months-long dome building eruption of Mount St. Helens and the frequent small earthquakes (most too weak to be felt) we get here are any indication.

Lord have mercy!

Through the Prayers of the Theotokos and St. Herman of Alaska, Lord have mercy.
If you're living a happy life as a Christian, you're doing something wrong.

Lord have mercy, through the intercessions of Your Mother and All the Saints!
"O Cross of Christ, all-holy, thrice-blessed, and life-giving, instrument of the mystical rites of Zion, the holy Altar for the service of our Great Archpriest, the blessing - the weapon - the strength of priests, our pride, our consolation, the light in our hearts, our mind, and our steps"
Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.
