Today we remember St. Mark of Ephesus, Pillar Of Orthodoxy. Please check out the links below for some background and a story about how was the sole bishop who stood against the psuedo (false) council of florence and helped save the church... very very interesting and a man who stood up for what he believed. In fact we are taught to live by example. St. Mark of Ephesus did just that and those who were against him eventually realized the error of their thinking and followed St. Mark's position on the false council of Florence.

By your profession of faith, O all-praised Mark
The Church has found you to be a zealot for truth.
You fought for the teaching of the Fathers;
You cast down the darkness of boastful pride.
Intercede with Christ God to grant forgiveness to those who honor you!

Clothed with invincible armor, O blessed one,
You cast down rebellious pride,
You served as the instrument of the Comforter,
And shone forth as the champion of Orthodoxy.
Therefore we cry to you: "Rejoice, Mark, the boast of the Orthodox!"
