Just a little update and a word of thanks for those who prayed for me as I was facing major surgery last week. I've been home now since Thursday morning, and gradually feeling stronger. The surgeon was quite happy about the surgery. I have a very long abdominal incision and he was forced to do an ileostomy, which is a temporary pulling to the surface of the intestine so that waste can bypass the rectum as it recovers. I was hoping this would not be necessary, but at least I did not have to have a colostomy. It's taken some time to get used to this pouch and the appearance of intestine on my stomach caused me many tears, but with God's help, I shall make it through this trial. The pathology of the tumour is being studied presently, and when it is determined, a second course of chemo will be decided upon.

If you had seen me as I sat dejectedly on the edge of the operating table as they shoved the epidural into me, you would not think me brave at all, for I was trembling and shaking like a leaf. One feels so vulnerable and completely out of control of the situation at such times.

Most women I know react that way when they are having an epidural to give birth! Let alone the type of surgery you had. Give yourself some credit. You are a very brave woman going thru a very difficult fight. Lord have mercy on Rosehip! |

Bravery isn't a lack of fear. . . it is stepping up and doing the needful thing at the right time. And trembling or not, you did what was necessary.  Lord have mercy on his handmaiden and grant her healing. |
