Do you have to Baptized before having your Icons Blessed???

Do you have to Baptized before having your Icons Blessed???  I am catechumen and I bought all these icons, and I just realized you have to get them blessed.  So do you have to be baptized before having your icons can get blessed.

No, you don't have to be baptized.
If you're living a happy life as a Christian, you're doing something wrong.

Some would say that you should not even have your icons blessed since they are blessed by thier use.

Nope.  I'm only adding this to show you a bit of consensus amongst the membership here.  You can have your icons, home, car, even family blessed without you being baptized.

Just to be clear by my statement, the you is a general one that applies to everyone not you specifically as a catechumen. There is a school of thought that you do not need to say a prayer of blessing over an icon since it is made holy by the image on it. The pious custom among the Greeks is that the icon is placed in the altar for up to 40 days (some would say just one liturgy) but there is no prayer said over the icons.

The consecration service for a church does not even a specific prayer over the icons that are in the church they just happen to get sprinkled with holy water when the whole church is sprinkled.

There is, however, in the Slavonic Velikiy Trebnik (Great Book of Needs) a specific prayer and ritual for the blessing of icons on the altar of a church.

No.

I purchased my first icon and had it blessed before I was a catechumen.

There is, however, in the Slavonic Velikiy Trebnik (Great Book of Needs) a specific prayer and ritual for the blessing of icons on the altar of a church.

Perhaps it is because Peter Moghila, Metropolitan of Kiev (1633-47) may have added it?  He added some 20 prayers to the Trebnik and the prayer of absolution as found in say the OCA order of Confession (other Slavic jurisdictions use this too).  These 20 or so prayers for specific needs wouldn't be found in a Greek service book.
