That’s total BS.  Very high grade.  If you fertilized fields with it, we could end world hunger forever.  The earth would yield so much.  We’d all die in an avalanche of produce.
I just need to find out how to say it in Slavonic!

I think we should all just get out of the Rome business altogether.

The whole conversation

' I would like to know what an orthodox priest or orthodox theologian think (No opinions from orthodox laity please!),'

I would suggest you ask people that you can verify this status....people online are truly not the best for this....

No theologians here.

Speak for yourself, bro.

If you truly pray, what are you doing here?

Saving you.
Pray for persecuted Christians, especially in Serbian Kosovo and Raška, Egypt and Syria

Kind of ironic that when I click the link I get "This page does not exist!" Even the internets proves Catholicism wrong.  :-*

It's my big dream to dive into the Theophany water, doesn't matter if it's ice plunge or tropicana.
However, I still haven't possibility to do this (in Poland there are a few places where you can go into the wated sanctified on the Epiphany, but only according to the old calendar, while in Lebanon they don't have this cutom).

Why not just do it on old calendar Theophany?

You could also just pour some holy water into the water you plan to plunge in; this is what I will probably do next year since I don't live near an Orthodox parish.

So I can just do that for my next bath.

I’ve thought of doing this from time to time on a regular basis.  I wonder if others do it.

I'll make sure to put in 10 pounds of ice for the true Russian experience.

I've had again a dream with metropolitan Sava, head of the POC. This time he was with a delegation of Japanese Orthodox bishops.

Take the dream with caution it could (and most likely is) a deception from The Devil and his angels

What is a mad scientist “quick monk”?

Dr. Wily and Quick Man get foiled one too many times and finally retire to a life of repentance in the desert. They are tonsured Gleb and Sophronius, respectively.

Surprisingly accurate comment of WPM:

/Ukraine is the birthplace of Russian Christianity/
I would say that the part of Russia that was the birthplace of Russian Christianity became Ukraine. Otherwise, you think within the limits set by those who incite conflicts.

/I find sectarian-ethnic conflicts in Christianity to be vile and a source of great Embassy, because they embody our failure to live as Christians./
In Ukraine there is no interfaith conflict in Christianity, there is a policy of the West (from Istanbul and Vatican to the United States) "divide and conquer", using the pride and ambition of some people, and inferiority complex - other people. Leave Ukraine alone-and the wounds will begin to heal. But that's not going to happen. Therefore, reconciliation is impossible, as it is impossible to reconcile Christ with veliar.

Look what happens. First established wicked/unholy bunch/gathering of "ocu"... And now they are calling us to reconcile with him! Is it serious?
/Ukraine is the birthplace of Russian Christianity/
Я бы сказал: та часть России, которая была родиной русского христианства, стала Украиной. Иначе вы мыслите в рамках, установленных теми, кто разжигает конфликты.

/I find sectarian-ethnic conflicts in Christianity to be vile and a source of great embarassment, because they embody our failure to live as Christians./

I understand this post in terms of learning parts and pieces of Russian.

Hey guys, look! I'm a Ukrainian who was born and raised Ukrainian, and God gave this land for us, for us Ukrainians, and those who don't recognize our Divinely given country to us - well, they are of the Devil, they are Pharisees, sons of Satan, etc. because we know for a definitive fact that Ukraine is a God-given country and we know for a definitive fact that Russia really really wants to annex all of Ukraine and make it into a not democracy and cut off all trade with other non European countries and start a nuclear war and and other bad stuff that I can't name because UKRAINE IS THAT IMPORTANT!

PSYCHE!

YOU'VE JUST BEEN RUSED!

I'm actually a Russophile who thinks that Ukraine is just a cultural construction with no evidence whatsoever of any history of Ukraine, because we need to BRING BACK THE TSAR! The Tsar is still alive, and he is our lord and savior. God will have him descend from the Heavens and throne him as the king of Orthodoxy, to him we should bend a knee as the Vicar of Christ!
Those Ukrainians are all Nazis who get funding from Soros and the CIA, and I know that Ukraine is a God-given land for Russia, and we need to bring back the Russian Empire! 1917 - worst year of my life! We will destroy the Freemason Jewish Soros CIA Intelligence Agency plot to stop the Tsar from being enthroned!

PSYCHE!

YOU'VE BEEN DOUBLE RUSED!

I'm actually a Greek who has a lineage to one of the Apostles, because as we all know, the Apostles were all ethnic Greeks who made Gyros for each other. They were all born Greek, and Jesus Himself spoke Greek and looked Greek - in fact one of His descendants is probably Alexander the Great, due to this name that looks Greek - and the Church only used the Greek, and really, all Churches have to subject themselves to the original language that the Church was in - which we know for 100% sure was Greek with no other languages ever historically allowed. And then those Frankish Latins took over in 1054 and ruined everything and stopped teaching Greek, and they lost everything, because Greek is what gives the Church life.
In fact, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, Ethiopia, Armenia, Georgia, Syria, India, Rome, - all of those Churches don't exist and really they are just offshoots of Greekness, and any of them that went into heresy went into heresy because they stopped speaking Greek. So really, submit yourselves to the guys who have a primacy over the whole world as God's chosen people - and don't worry, we'll get rid of those Turkish scum off the face of the Earth and re-establish Constantinople. 1453 was the worst year of my life.

So really, although I'm born in Ukraine, I'm actually Russian, but not really, I'm actually Greek, because the Hellenic Republic established Russia which established Ukraine. We need to send the Phanar to teach those lawless imperialist scum how to speak Koine Greek like a real Orthodox Christian.

So what part of you thought posting that was a good idea?

Old post. The opening line is a bit harsh, but I definitely agree with Hiwot :)

I dont really want to go but do because I
feel I want to be witb her. Our lives are divergjng .....
Welcome to marriage scooter. My wife often performs in community theater. Not entertaining neil simon stuff, musicals. Show tunes and all. A bunch of middle aged, never will be primadonnas prancing and screeching. I am there every opening night. I hate it. I love my wife, so I am there. My inlaws? My father in law is a very bigoted pentacostal minister. Last time he came over he shared with me intimate details of his sex life. I'd rather eat a bug than answer the phone when he calls. I love my wife so when she goes to visit. I go. When they visit. I entertain my father in law. You want to be married? You gotta show up for the marriage even if it makes your ears bleed.

oh man! this is without a doubt one of the most genuinely romantic things I've read in quite sometime.
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, that in its flame I may love You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul and with all my strength, and my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.

This is really heartwarming.
"May the Lord our God remember in His kingdom all Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, which heralds the Word of Truth and fearlessly offers and distributes the Holy Oblation despite human deficiencies and persecutions moved by the powers of this world, in all time and unto the ages of ages."

May the Blessed Light shine Forth

Some background: The gentleman Filip Stojanovski is a well-known activist that has lived off USAID Open Society funding for the greater part of this decade. So, it's a bit sanctimonious of him to create a piece on outside meddling, especially since the Russian influence he is speaking about is private investments.

It's funny it used to be the US that championed private investing in foreign lands and we would get on the Soviet Union for meddling with their government monies. It seems like the roles have switched.

This is crazier than a rat in a tin can.

And your honor shall stand sure,

If an angel out of heaven
Brings you other things to drink,
Thank him for his kind attention,
Go and pour them down the sink."

his feeling, when waiting for the supper in an Orthodox Theological institute and playing table football with one Russian girl and two seminarians, shouting a bit and jumping, and in the same time a metropolitan is coming in...

1. Your new avatar is gayer than a Village People-themed service at an Episcopal Church.
"When you don’t live with Christ, you live in melancholy, in sorrow, in anxiety and in worry. You don’t live properly… The best medicine is to devote yourself to the worship of Christ. Everything is cured. Everything works properly."

~ St. Porphyrios

"The Church is indeed 'Apostolic'.  But the Church is also 'Patristic'.  And only by being 'Patristic' is the Church continuously 'Apostolic'."

Quote from: Bryan Paul
There is a style of crucifix that seems unique to the UOC-USA. The overall shape is a three-bar cross with the top bar capping the cross (rather than part-way down) and the lower bar straight (as opposed to slanted). The center is a standard cross with Corpus. The top and bottom bars each consist of four panels, which appear to contain icons. There are two additional icons, one on each end of the arms.

What is the significance of this style?
Is it patterned on an existing icon?

Looks more Square.
