7. Clean jokes only.  If it is not PG rated, don't post it.  If in doubt, ask yourself "Would Mor Ephrem post this?"  If the answer is yes, post it, if the answer is no, he would not descend to such impiety, then do not post it.
I have actually done this once. I'll say things much lower than Mor on a daily basis, but if I need to clean up without losing irreverence, he's a good reference.

One could begin to think, after one had read enough recent posts, and if one were uncharitable, that Mr. Fogey's religion is mainly himself.

Well, if I look like Milhouse Van Houten trapped in a Raymond Chandler novel I'd worship myself too.
I'm with the camp of 13 million Americans that believe politicians are, or are controlled by, Reptilians. I think only monks can solve this problem. It doesn't seem right that they prefer to ignore it.

Best thing would be to crop out the cardinal. Crop like it's 1054.

My autistic kid is the one who didn't get vaccines until way late.

Wait, so you're saying vaccines cause autism retroactively, actually distorting time itself? That's even more nefarious than I could have imagined.

"I decontaminated the notion of premarital sex. That gives me great satisfaction.” -Hugh Hefner

"In the 1950s and '60s, there were still states that outlawed birth control, so I started funding court cases to challenge that. At the same time, I helped sponsor the lower-court cases that eventually led to Roe v. Wade. We were the amicus curiae in Roe v. Wade.” - Hugh Hefner

“My parents didn’t show me much love or affection. My iconoclasm was a rebellion against my repressive and puritan upbringing.” - Hugh Hefner

Parents, love your children. Hug them, kiss them, praise them, give them an abundance of positive attention. This is what can happen if you don't.

It's difficult for me to think of anyone who has had a more detrimental impact on society. He seemed like an empty, sad, hollow shell of a human being.

May God have mercy on his soul.

I asked a very simple question.

Are any of us really graced with a choice between potential spouses? For that matter, do any of us have fruitful relationships with eligible members of the opposite sex?

Let no one doubt me.

Many, many people regularly live, work, or worship with people of different cultures without feeling the need to appropriate them. I'm an Irish-Chinese guy going to a Carpatho-Rus' church. At no point have I ever felt the need to pretend to be Carpatho-Rus'. What do you mean by "American"? The "ethnic" parishes you pillory are largely made up of Americans in any meaningful sense of the term. If by "American" you mean Anglo-Saxon, come out and say it.

I for one am happy to be able to settle down at coffee hour with better food than some potato salad or some Methodist’s lamentable simulacrum of enchiladas.

Love this post.
I was raised Methodist, so that bit is extra amusing.

Them: Oh, where are you from?
Me:  From [City].
Them:  Oh wow, there are no Orthodox churches there.
Me:  No, there aren't.  There are about 15 World Orthodox parishes.  You know how that is.
Them:  Oh, we're so glad you came here.  You can't be too careful.

Seriously, that interaction did happen

I'm on faculty at a university you've heard of (a top-10 public), and my particular college is among the best in the country (top 5 among AAU schools). I've published in several journals rated as "A" in my field. At my RateMyProfessor page, there are 127 reviews with an average rating of 4.3, all within the past three years. The students have also kindly rated me as hot.

Hey, we don't all have to suffer through life pining over big-nosed girls we barely even know, Raph.  ;)

But yeah, it is funny.  Rate My Professors is simply a website where students dish on their teachers: whose class you can coast through, who assigns a lot of reading, who knows their stuff and who relies way too much on the book, and yeah, who is hot, which they indicate with a little chili pepper.  It's flattering in a way, but very, very silly.  The fact that anyone claiming to be some über-academic puts a lot of stock in their Rate My Professors score gives me pause.  It'd be kinda like football players being more concerned about how many girls have their poster up in their bedroom as opposed to their actual career stats.

"Consistently" doesn't make any sense. You either have a chili pepper, or you don't.

You've got no clue, anyway. Janitors are not typically found at Google scholar, RateMyProfessors, or on faculty lists.

The moderators know my IP address. They can put two and two together. You asked for credibility related to assessing those jokers at St. Phoebe's Center. I offered it. Your own puffery, however, is entirely unsubstantiated.

I managed to read Rambam's post with a straight face, but this one was way too much:

I'm consistently rated as hot

Sure it makes sense, genius.  There are more ways than the pepper to indicate hotness.  People type stuff in the comments like "...and he's easy on the eyes too..." or whatever.  It's becoming more and more evident that you're gilding the lily here as it pertains to your grandiosity.

You've got no clue, anyway. Janitors are not typically found at Google scholar, RateMyProfessors, or on faculty lists.

I hope your dad isn't too disappointed.  And professors typically don't put much stock in Rate My Professors.  You're telling on yourself here, Rambam.

The moderators know my IP address. They can put two and two together.

If what you say is true, as Porter said, you debase yourself and the profession you claim pretty much every time you post here.

You asked for credibility related to assessing those jokers at St. Phoebe's Center. I offered it.

And you provided nothing but vulgarity and a lot of hot air.

Your own puffery, however, is entirely unsubstantiated.

LOL if you think you've proven anything here other than the sad fact that you care about whether or not some student rated you as hot on Rate My Professors.

It's true. I used to find your posts ridiculous, but since realizing you may be some species of doctoral candidate and educator, I find them abhorrent.

I'm happy with both my beautiful Latino face and my triangular-nosed girlfriend, and neither do I doubt your own particular sex appeal, but I found it a funny sentence out of context.

Yeah, I remember that unsettling conversation.  Unfortunately.  As I recall, it ended with "dat veil tho". ;)

It's not the same nose. I left the mentally unstable Muslim for good and my new girlfriend's nose is rather Basque-ish. Northern Spanish family.

I wouldn't call it a fetish. BTW, it's a Portuguese word.

I think RaphaCam and I are brothers.  He is now the only other person I know that takes stock in noses.

Well, ultimately it's Latin: factitius
