I had to let go of many women because they tried to dishonor me. They were like, Pravoslavac, Pravoslavac, please grab me and take me to the bed room, and i was like, away you daughters of satan! You cant have this, then i point at my body, until marriage. And i know this is hard for you to imagine, but they all give up sooner or later. Every single women i met is ignorant of Orthodoxy. And those at the parish are the worst, they come to the Liturgy because they have tough exam tomorrow, or i guess they murdered someone, so they come to repent or something. They just say it is love and it is okay. Then i, as the pillow of Orthodoxy tell them, it is not okay! Hands off me! Plus i like to talk a lot about Saint Photius and they get bored quickly.

Comes across as textual gibberish.

Typed without a shred of self-awareness.

Maybe we're all just WPM's dream.
Blessed Nazarius practiced the ascetic life. His clothes were tattered. He wore his shoes without removing them for six years.

I was going to quote the same. Pure gold.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Do what in dress?

Good. Float in dress, walk while the wind is moving your dress and you are like really mysterious at that moment.

Yeah, I'm a nymph. A forest nymph, occassionally swimming in nearby lakes

From a thread about Feminism:

I am confident this thread will be filled with nothing but rational, unbiased intellectual discourse of which both sides will undoubtedly and civilly benefit.

How can you post the horsecrap you do here while boasting an icon of the Panagia as your digital representation?

This is why my digital representation is a roaring cartoon manifestation of hate and fear.

When I read that I wondered if Fabio's understanding of American culture comes from80's action movies.

And now the thread has morphed into gun masturbation.

Which is far better than most of the other kinds of self-abuse found around here.  After all, it can't lead to heresy.

That observation came from the owner of the shooting range I visited in Richmond, VA, in 2008, born in the USA and a person immersed in the gun control debate - with an evident bias, of course, as his business shows.

I suppose that even though he's got an interest in the conversation, he is more immersed in real American culture than a foreigner who watched movies of the 80s. ;)

I could also add a comment from an Orlando police officer I met in 2000 whom I asked if it was true that I could walk around with the katana I had just bought (here in Brazil swords have to be inside specially made tubes and bags to be transported around). He said it was true, there were no prohibitions about it. My reflexive reply was "But a person can kill another with a sword!" to which he asked: "Do *you* want to kill someone? Because if you do, even a brick will work and we won't prohibit walking around with bricks".

I suppose he too knew more about American culture than foreigners. ;)

Is there really anything you can learn about any culture that isn't summed up in Cobra?

Oh, several...

How to deal with street gangs: Death Wish 3
How to deal with political correctness: Demolition Man
How to deal with organized crime: Die Hard
How to deal with alien contact: Predator
How to deal with time paradoxes: Terminator
How to deal with human electronic enhancements: Robocop (the original one, not the more recent fake)
How to deal with space exploration: Total Recall (also the original one)

And so on...

Yeah, sure.  Whoever's mouth you put that ridiculous "observation" in - real or imaginary - it's still silly.  If you'd have said "I notice they never hit police stations or military bases or other hard targets" I'd have let the comment pass without remark.  But "roadside bars"?  Other than vice cops and broken down hookers, who targets "roadside bars" for anything?  So yeah, stupid, silly, posturing.

Yeah, sure.  Whoever's mouth you put that ridiculous "observation" in - real or imaginary - it's still silly.

If you are to question the honesty of what people say here you better have evidence of that or you are acting as a slanderer.

Of course not. As you have just confirmed the shooting range owner observation, it does seem that American roadside bars are indeed places where mal-adjuscted people who may be armed gather. The likelihood that some of them couldn't care less about firing back is far greater than school teachers.

So get yourself together and stop finding lame excuses to throw ad hominen at people who have opinions that you do not like and are unable to contradict either by lack of competence or emotional stability.

Get over yourself.

A guy from Brazil once told me that they let flamingos drive public buses down there.  Question the veracity of my hastily erected statement designed to deflect criticism and I'll accuse you of slander.

Your prejudice then.

My prejudice?  lol.  Because I'm aware of the fact that roadside bars aren't a target of interest for anyone trying to prove anything?  Why aren't terrorists targeting Sesame Place?  Is it because they're scared of Grover?  Your idea that any terrorist out there ever said, "Hey!  I know!  Let's knock over Dirty Jake's out on 38!" and his buddy was like, "Are you kidding?  Snake Plissken might be in there!" is just silly.  I have no problem saying so, whether some hypothetical red-blooded American whose knowledge of the issue is beyond reproach "agrees" with you or not.

Of course not.

Of course so.

As you have just confirmed the shooting range owner observation,

You mean your observation, which is how it was originally presented until Iconodule observed that your knowledge of the subject seemed to come largely from our greatest cultural export to your country: action flicks.

it does seem that American roadside bars are indeed places where mal-adjuscted people who may be armed gather. The likelihood that some of them couldn't care less about firing back is far greater than school teachers.

Which doesn't mean that terrorists or anyone else was ever interested in targeting them in the first place.  Would you also contend that the only reason al-Qaeda doesn't target crackhouses owned by the Mob Piru Bloods is because they know the Bloods have AKs?  You're actually arguing for the fact that dive bars might be on the radar of radical Islamists for some reason if it weren't for the fact that some drunk in there might have a Saturday night special in his boot.  Stop and think about that for a minute.

So get yourself together and stop finding lame excuses to throw ad hominen at people who have opinions that you do not like and are unable to contradict either by lack of competence or emotional stability.

Get yourself together and stop making lame, silly posts and then acting all butthurt when someone gets a giggle out of them in a thread where such is appropriate.  The last several posts in this thread have been poking gentle fun at the silliness of Pravoslavac, WPM, hayabusa, and others' posts.  Someone gets a giggle out of something equally ridiculous you post and you fly off the handle?  And accuse them of doing so because you've expressed an opinion they "do not like" not because the idea of terrorists targeting dive bars is funny?  Talk about "lack of competence and emotional stability".  Get over yourself.

"Hey!

I don't know who those are so it seems you are more into that kind of movie that I am. And your ad hominens followed by shallow relativization of what you just wrote when called out on it just shows that you are not just making a funny remark, but trying to build a red-herring.

You know very well that the point of the comment is the contrast between attacks against places where people might be armed and places where it's safe for the attacker to assume they won't.

Trying to ridicule the specific example you just want to take the attention from the implicit corollary that those who campaign for anti-gun zones or for tougher gun control are actually inviting those attacks.

What you are trying to do is to deviate the discussion from that point.

On a serious note, terrorists are going to try to hit targets where you average American is so as to create an atmosphere of fear throughout the country. If you go and shoot up a dive bar, people will just think, well that is a couple of drunks who got mad at each other. If you shoot up a school or a Christmas party or some such place, it will make people think, that could have been me! My kids go to school just like that one! I go to Christmas parties every year! It creates fear. The body count isn't what gets the terrorists their goals. The fear that is created is their goal. It just so happens that those places are not places where many people carry guns. We have had killings at our local gun ranges. In fact, a guy I knew professionally was killed at a gun range just down the street from me because some nutjob wanted his AR-15 and killed him for it. You never hear about those in the guns rights publications though, because they don't fit the narrative. People still rob convenience stores despite a number of owner-operators having concealed weapons on them.
God bless!

I don't know who those are so it seems you are more into that kind of movie that I am.

Nah.  I don't think I'm more into 80s action flicks than you are:

Oh, several...

How to deal with street gangs: Death Wish 3
How to deal with political correctness: Demolition Man
How to deal with organized crime: Die Hard
How to deal with alien contact: Predator
How to deal with time paradoxes: Terminator
How to deal with human electronic enhancements: Robocop (the original one, not the more recent fake)
How to deal with space exploration: Total Recall (also the original one)

And so on...

And even if I do enjoy them on occasion, I don't base my worldview on them.

Hilarious.  Because I found your "al-Qaeda would be all over the Chuggin' Monkey if it weren't for the fact that One-Eyed Luke is wearin' his six-iron tonight" premise to be silly beyond measure, you pretend to know where I stand on gun control?  Jump to assumptions much, Fabu?

You're wrong.  Here's why.

I agree with the idea that terrorists or anyone else would be less likely to attack a place where people might be armed.  Which is why I replied to your initial butthurt tirade by saying:

If you'd have said "I notice they never hit police stations or military bases or other hard targets" I'd have let the comment pass without remark.  But "roadside bars"?  Other than vice cops and broken down hookers, who targets "roadside bars" for anything?

So once again, I'm not a big gun control guy.  I agree with the basic premise that terrorists or anyone else would be less likely to target places where people might be armed.

What I don't agree with is the very, very silly idea of yours that "roadside bars" might be places that terrorists would consider hitting if some of the patrons there weren't so gal-danged all American tough with the cigarettes rolled up in their shirtsleeves an' sich.  So, to recap, what you typed was silly.  I got a chuckle out of it - along with Iconodule, Tris, nothing, Mor and a few other folks - you got butthurt and started throwing a fit - along with a bunch of red herrings and fantastic stories of your own - to cover your embarrassment.  Once you contended that I like 80s action movies more than you do after rattling off a list of them that taught you how to deal with life, we reached the point of no return.  Once you forced me to reveal that I'm not actually a big gun control guy and that this is not about politics at all, but about the fact that you can't bear for people on the internet to laugh at your silliness, the argument - such as it was - was effectively over.

Get over yourself.
