For The Moscow Patriarchal Election
« on: January 24, 2009, 08:29:42 PM »
Over the next few days (25th - 26th January), the Archbishops Council of the Russian Orthodox Church will meet to elect candidates for Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and the local council of the entire Russian Church follows from 27th - 29th January.
May the All Holy Trinity guide the Russian Church in the coming days as she chooses her next Patriarch.

O heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth,
Everywhere present and filling all things,
Treasury of Blessings, and Giver of Life,
Come and dwell in us,
Cleanse us of all stain,
And save our souls, O Good One!
If you're living a happy life as a Christian, you're doing something wrong.

Lord, have mercy!

Metropolitan Kyrill:  During the days ahead we ask the faithful to pray for the election:  Lord, bless the election of a Patriarch in Moscow.

May the Lord enlighten those, who are voting for the next Moscow Patriarch, to select a candidate blessed by the Holy Spirit to continue the over 1,000 years of Orthodox witness to the Russian, Ukrainian and other peoples underneath Her Omophorion.

Amen!

Lord, have mercy.
"O Cross of Christ, all-holy, thrice-blessed, and life-giving, instrument of the mystical rites of Zion, the holy Altar for the service of our Great Archpriest, the blessing - the weapon - the strength of priests, our pride, our consolation, the light in our hearts, our mind, and our steps"
Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.

Divine Father, you who built the Church on the solid and immovable rock of your Son, that we might have a perpetual guide for our souls in our earthly pilgrimage: please listen to the hearts of the candidates to the See of Moscow, as you did with king David, so that a devout man may become the humble Patriarch of your Church established in Moscow. Amen!
Our Lord Jesus Christ, who consecrated the Apostles to share in your bishopric ministry, not only to administer the Divine Mysteries, but also and especially to safeguard the true faith: prepare the Russian Orthodox Church to elect a valid follower of the servant of God Alexi II, who now abides in your glory. Amen!
Holy Spirit, Divine Paraclete, who breath over the church when assembled in the name of Christ, and who in thy power choose and order those who are to follow the apostles in their ministry of leadership: enlighten your servants in Moscow who are to elect their new Patriarch, so that the new-elect might become a luminous lighthouse in the darkness of this world corrupted by relativism and atheism. Amen!
"Also in the Catholic Church itself we take great care that we hold that which has been believed everywhere, always, by all. For that is truly and properly Catholic" (St. Vincent of Lérins, "The Commonitory")
