Yeah, I know. A rarity that something related to professional sports would make it to the Prayer Forum, but I think this case is appropriate. (Please, no commentary on other aspects of the game. Save that for Other Topics.)
Those of you who watched or listened to the closing minutes of the AFC Championship Game (American football) are aware that one of the players, Willis McGahee, had to be carried off the field on a stretcher with his head immobilized after being knocked unconscious by a vicious helmet-to-helmet tackle (that was otherwise clean). I'm sure news of his condition will come out over the next few hours as he undergoes constant observation, but let's pray right now that what he suffered is not something immediately life threatening, like a broken neck.
Lord have mercy!

Boze Spasi!!! I saw this happen on TV and I was praying so much for him. He is such an awesome person and no person deserves to undergo something like this, especially someone playing a sports game.
I hope God helps him and blesses him in all of this.

Latest news report is that Willis is able to move his arms and legs, which is always a good sign with this kind of injury.

Lord, have mercy!
I would also add a prayer for Steelers' safety Ryan Clark, the other player involved in the hard hit. No one wants to be the guy who ends another player's career or worse.

Update: McGahee, who missed most of training camp after knee surgery and had a slow start to the regular season, was resting at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital last night with movement in all his limbs and was "neurologically intact," a team spokesman said. ^ Thanks for the update. I had heard that team doctors were optimistic about McGahee's chances; your post just confirmed this.
Glory be to God!

Just a bit of a further update, with some extra info... "Willis McGahee joined his teammates Monday at Baltimore's training complex after doctors told him he would make a full recovery from a fierce helmet-to-helmet hit in the AFC championship game that had him carted off the field..." "McGahee said he has a concussion and his neck is extremely sore. But he said he would be ready to go next season."
