To cope
« on: January 07, 2009, 02:28:46 PM »
I hate to selfishly request prayers, but I am in the midst of a very difficult time. Only have about 2 weeks until a very serious surgery. Two days ago was in hospital for pre-admission, and the surgery was explained to me in great detail. I am in shock and feeling quite ill and paralyzed with grief and fear.
I will have two stomas, a huge abdominal incision (at best) and if the cancer has spread too deeply into the rectal walls and too low to spare the sphinter muscles, then I will require a permanent colostomy. The surgeon will only be able to make this particular decision in the midst of surgery.

Please keep me in your prayers. I am ill will sorrow and fear and am having trouble believing in anything. Thank you so much.

It is not selfish to request prayer. Lord have mercy on Your servant that we pray with a pure heart for her spiritual and physical  healing. Through the intercessions of the Holy Theotokos, Saint Cosmas and St. Damien.

Rosehip, my sister,

Please know that I am praying fervently for you.  My Grandmother (may her memory be eternal) had colon cancer.  It was a difficult time, but she survived to live to the ripe age of 92.  And so, while my first reaction is to ask why this would happen to such a loving, faithful person,  I take heart in the answer... As He did in the case of my grandmother, God works many mysteries, and I have no doubt that this is an opportunity for you to grow closer to Him and to feel His love.  Fr. Christos and I are praying that He will bring you through this for a full and speedy recovery!

With much, much love in Christ,
Presbytera Mari

Lord, have mercy on your servant Rosehip, on her familly, and on the doctors who care for her!

Lord, have mercy on your dear handmaid.

Rosehip- I, along with many many others, are praying for you dear sister!  And it is absolutely NOT selfish of you at all to ask for help/prayers!  If we cannot help out each other, then we cannot call ourselves Christians.

Lord, have mercy! On thy servant Rosehip.
Excellence of character, then, is a state concerned with choice, lying in a mean relative to us, this being determined by reason and in the way in which the man of practical wisdom would determine it. Now it is a mean between two vices, that which depends on excess and that which depends on defect.

Thank you for you help and concern and prayers, dear ones. This is such a fearsome, fearsome trial for me, it is almost beyond my comprehension.  I feel beyond anything really. If you can pray, that's good. If only I could retrieve an iota of faith from somewhere. It's too much all at once for me. Thanks again.

Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy.

O Lord Almighty, the Healer of our souls and bodies, You, Who put down and raise up, Who chastise and heal also; do You now, in Your great mercy, visit our sister Rosehip, who is sick. Stretch forth Your hand that is full of healing and health, and get her up from her bed, and cure her of her illness. Put away from her the spirit of every malady, pain and fever to which she is bound; in that You love mankind; yea, Lord my God, pity Your creation, through the compassions of Your Only-Begotten Son, together with Your All-Holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit, with Whom You are blessed, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy.

O Lord our God, Who by word alone did heal all diseases, Who did cure the kinswoman of Peter, You Who chastise with pity and heal according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity, do You Yourself, the same Lord, grant aid to this Your servant Rosehip and cure her of every sickness of which she is grieved; lift her up from her bed of pain, and send down upon her Your great mercy, and if it be Your Will, give to her health and a complete recovery; for You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You do we send up Glory: to Father, and to Son, and to Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Amen.

Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

Lord, have mercy!

Rosehip, In the light of those many in the Gospels who begged and pleaded with Christ that He would heal them of their infirmities, there's no reason to feel that you're being selfish by asking us to pray for you.

O Christ, Who alone art our Defender: Visit and heal Thy suffering handmaiden, delivering  her from sickness and grievous pains. Raise her up that she may sing to Thee and praise Thee without ceasing, through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Thou Who alone lovest mankind.
