My Son Aidan... :-)

« on: December 14, 2008, 09:36:24 PM »

Over the last several days I've attended Vespers, a Divine Liturgy in Slavonic and Russian, had many of my personal Icons and Crosses blessed, Great Vespers and Sunday Divine Liturgy. I'm just feeling peaceful and a lot of my cares and worries have faded.

It's been great because I'm struggled so long with Orthodoxy and Catholicism.

I'm just happy so I had to share.  Smiley

AS  many of us on this forum have said, reading about Orthodoxy is very different than experiencing it through the Divine Liturgy. I know what you mean about the peace that settles upon you, I experience it every Liturgy I go to.  Now try some of the Orthros and vesperal services if you can, they help me to focus on what is really important in my life.

Thanks be to God, both for this, and the fact that chrisb appears to be attending an Orthodox parish now...?

Yes. I've been attending off and on for over a year now.

Thank you for sharing. It is great to hear these things.

If this wretched sinner may offer some advice--be watchful always.  Your journey is progressing towards Holy Orthodoxy and the devil will not be happy.  You may be attacked harder than you ever have been. Persevere!

Peace, prayers and blessings,
Mickey

Hi Mickey,

Oh don't I know it. It has already been happening. I had a bought with doubt just last night. I know I need to be strong and not double-minded.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Thanks again.

Yes. And it will get worse than doubt. The demons will work through other people (family and friends). Heck, some of the great saints (like St Antony) were physically assaulted and almost killed. But we must remember that each assault has the ability to make us stronger in the Holy Orthodox faith. Keep up the good fight my friend.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Matt 11:12

I will keep all of you in my prayers.

That sinner,
Mickey
