Friends, please pray for the members of the Community in Easton, MD whose Church was auctioned off to the highest bidder in front of the courthouse steps. A Synagogue has offered their space for the Community to use. Also, please pray that our Orthodox Churches (or any other Church) do not wind up being auctioned off on the Courthouse steps. Most Holy Theotokos Save Us. Amen! |

My own parish is in the midst of a building campaign, and the potential of taking out a loan has been discussed. Let us all pray that no parish ever will need to face this nightmare.

I remember how glad when the priest at St. George's was emphatic to point out, when we sold the building that we had outgrown, that we had sold to another Orthodox Church (Indian Orthodox: St. Gregory outgrew the building to and remodeled and extended to twice the size). Christ the Savior in Chicago was a huge church complex (worth a couple million if I remember correctly) of some rapture offshoot of the Episcoplains, who thought that the world would end so they didn't need to ordain any more bishops. When the world didn't end, they started dying off. When they were down to a dozen (from hundreds), they went to HG Bishop Job and asked him what his Church taught. When they liked his answers, they gave him the complex (now the Diocese of the West's Center). "We are not going to be here much longer, and we want it to remain a Church. A real Church." It would seem that, as Conservative Anglicans, this is another continuing symptomn of the mess, with ECUA's hostility and tenacious hold on assets to the pratical numbers and the disorganization and lack of focus of where to go (African bishops are not a permanent solution).
