 Cheesy
I really think the Orthodox Church needs to do something like this!
Every year since 2004, a Venetian publishing company has produced a calendar called "Calendario Romano" which features photos of a handsome pin-up priest for each month. The Calendar has rapidly become the No. 1 souvenir of a visit to Rome or Venice.
Calendario Romano 2009 is available now: http://www.calendarioromano.co.uk/

Should we do something like this as a fund-raiser for OCnet featuring our Priests?

Well....count me out as a model!

But, what does our reading/viewing public say?

Oh, gosh....I didn't mean that our reading/viewing public could vote me 'in' to having my picture in the Priests of OC.net calendar!

Please let me clarify: would our reading/viewing public be interested in a calendar of photogenic priests here?

(the bolded qualifier would exclude yours truly...I have a voice for radio, and a face to match!  Cheesy )

A Calendar of Catholic Priests would not be appropriate given the recent scandals of the Catholic Church.

Two thumbs down on that idea.

A Calendar of Orthodox Priests would equally be inappropriate due to the sealed court settlements as a result of scandals.

Two more thumbs down on that idea.

Just what the world needs - soft-core collar porn.  Sorry, but I don't think us Orthodox need to encourage many women's unspiritual fascination with men in "uniform".

How is pederasty involved with a bunch of Latin priests dressed in full cassocks?

I'm with you there...that people think that it would somehow be inappropriate for sexual reasons is somewhat disturbing, to say the least.

I can't find the idea of a Catholic Priest calendar amusing for the suffering of those affected by scandal is trivialized.

I do have a sense of humor; On some matters, I simply don't find them funny.  I'm saddened if any damper is placed on one's enjoyment but not at the expense of those who have been traumatized.   angel

We need to decide if it will be Julian or Gregorian though...
I think it will have to be New Calendar. Old Calendar Priests tend to look like members of ZZ Top.

Only if I don't like the idea of young Catholic Priests posing inappropriately.   Undecided

You gave the idea a thumbs down while I was more emphatic which means that (hopefully) we both agree that such a Calendar isn't a good idea.   Undecided

What was so inappropriate? They're wearing a hell of a lot more clothes than the girls do in any calendar I own.

After checking out the pictures for the calendar, I'd say it's not fair to single women to put out a calendar like that, because all those handsome men are off-limits.  Smiley

That might be cool. The Top, likes to pose in front of old roadsters with flames painted on the side and in front of cool old barns and stuff. Maybe old calendar priests could pose in front of different cool vintage cars with lots of chrome in front of old Orthodox churches in various ethnic neighborhoods in the rust belt. Maybe even throw in a Harley - they would look perfect sitting on one!

I guess we'd have to pass on the tall leggy women that the Top also frequently uses as props.

The old calendar priests calendar would probably go over well with bikers and Viet Nam vets! Title it bad a%# beards.

The new calendar priests calendar could be titled "Holy Hunks"
