On Monday, December 1, it will be the fifth anniversary of the repose of our friend, brother, and fellow forumite John Royce, who posted here as Hypo-Ortho and at ByzCath as Orthodox East.
John was 63 when he died peacefully, after a brief illness, while sitting at his computer reading the forums that he so enjoyed. Each year, in remembering John, people invariably comment on what a gentleman and gentle man that he was, and on his love for his Faith and his Church. Personally, I picture him smiling down at us.
O Lord, You took from this world the soul of our friend and brother, Your servant John, leading him to rest in a place of light, happiness, and peace, where there is neither pain nor suffering, neither grief nor sighing. Allow our brother to intercede before Your Holy Throne for the union of Your Holy Churches and having forgiven him every sin he has committed by thought, or word, or deed, grant that his memory be eternal and blessed.
Prayers that Christine, his children, and his grandchildren are comforted on this anniversary by happy memories of him and a firm belief that he is with his God.

I have memories - very happy ones - of the conversations by e-mail with John in his last few weeks .
May he rest in peace and intercede for us all.
Eternal memory

Lord, have mercy. Hospody pomyluy.
Eternal be the memory of the loyal and faithful servant of God.
I have started here later and never had an opportunity to communicate with Hypo-Ortho, but I always greatly enjoyed reading his excellent thoughts here.
