Today at 10:00 AM Central time my mom will be having an angioplasty procedure on the artery that runs behind her stomach.
After 6 years of battling a debilitating and unidentified illness that caused severe stomach pain and vomiting (which in turn caused bleeding ulcers) and fighting to find out what was wrong with her we finally found a doctor (after moving to AL) who didn't believe it was all in her head and who didn't give up. After a CAT scan of the artery it was found to be 90% blocked. They believe that eating and filling the stomach puts pressure on the arterial blockage creating the pain that has cause her to vomit several times a day for 6 years.
Please pray that the procedure goes well and that it is indeed the source of the problem.
Please pray also in thanksgiving for Dr. Alexander who hasn't given up on trying to find the cause of the problem.
Thank you!!

Excellence of character, then, is a state concerned with choice, lying in a mean relative to us, this being determined by reason and in the way in which the man of practical wisdom would determine it. Now it is a mean between two vices, that which depends on excess and that which depends on defect.

Turns out that yesterday was the consult with the cardiac surgeon and not the actual angiogram/angioplasty. The situation is much much worse than we imagined.
There are three arteries that feed the stomach, intestines and bowels. Two of those 3 are nearly completely occluded (blocked). The 3rd (and largest) is "very narrow."
On Tuesday they will be doing the angioplasty and trying to put a stent in the blocked artery. The problem is that this artery branches off of another artery with a very tight turn, which makes getting the stent into the blocked artery more difficult. If they cannot place the stent they will have to do a bypass surgery for that artery.
Unfortunately, that was not the only problem that the cardiac surgeon found. He listened to several arteries and heard a noise that indicated a possible blockage in the carotid artery. He immediately had his staff do a sonogram on my mom's carotid artery (feeds blood to the brain) and found a 70% to 80% blockage. This means she is at a increased risk of a stroke.
The cardiac surgeon said that it is a good thing that Dr. Alexander had the brainstorm to have the CAT scan done because my mom "didn't have a lot of time" with these blockages.
So if you can - please keep praying for my mom and her doctors.
If it isn't too selfish to ask, could you also say a small prayer for me. I have a lot of things going on right now. Bree's Christmas show is coming up and I have to finish making the costumes for her 1st group (4 toy soldiers) and I have to make the costume for her 2nd group. In addition to getting her to rehearsals. My mom is insisting on doing a "real Thanksgiving" this year (which means I have to cook it). There's school (of course). And then all of the health stuff with my mom. I'm feeling a bit frazzled.

Dear heavenly Father,
Look down with mercy and compassion upon Thy handmaiden Carole and her family as they are experiencing these trying and difficult times. Be with Carole's mother and her doctors as they treat her condition and may she regain her health through their efforts. Grant strength and courage to Carole in the midst of all her responsiblities during this overwhelming time.
Amen!

Thank you everyone for your prayers.
My mom is having the angioplasty today on the artery that feeds blood to the stomach and intestines. They're going to try to place the stent and if that does not work they will have to do a bypass surgery.
Please keep my mom and my dad in your prayers today. My dad is trying to be stoic but I know he is very worried. My daughter is having a hard time with this, too.
Thank you again!
