I know someone at the AAC and they are forwarding info to a friend of mine, and he told me that +Jonah had the majority of votes on both ballots, and I believe +Job fiinished a strong second on both. |

Like Schultz, I'm listening to Metropolitan JONAH's remarks from yesterday. I can imagine this had a strong influence on the voting.
I'm privileged to know him a little bit, having been to St. John's Monastery a few times while he was abbot. As others have said here, a very worthy man for this very difficult job.

I agree! Here is part of an email fom my foster son who knows him persoanlly - ========== I think, overall, a good choice. The man has actually BEEN a monk and LIVED in a monastery vs the vast majority of the North American hierarchs. He is young and energetic. From what I understand he actually lived with the homeless people in a shelter and is very modest. I assume that he will have great allegience to Arbp Dmitri of Dallas, as he is singularly responsible for his elevation to the episcopacy. I like the fact that he has lived in Russia and has had a chance to get exposed to Orthodox ethos. ============ Maybe we have another St Photius the Great in the making! Orthodoc |

That, and it seems pretty clear to me that Bishop Job, at his age, would be little more than a short-term placeholder while Syosset grooms a younger candidate to be elected in just a few years. It's good that the AAC decided to select a relatively young bishop for the office now, someone who'll be able to rudder the ship for many years to come. |
