A strike date is looming at the University I attend, and it is said that the two sides are miles apart and dug in.  The TAs, RAs and Contract Faculty are petitioning for high wages, various health care addons, and job security, at a time when the University is being forced to make general cuts across the board.  The last time a strike occurred here, it lasted for 76 days, was extremely bitter, and caused many issues for those hoping to graduate soon, especially those on OSAP (government assistance).

Please pray that the issue is resolved satisfactorily and that a strike can be avoided or at least, be very short.

Picket lines will be going up as of 7 AM.  God willing, it will be a short strike.

Lord, have mercy!

Things are not looking good.  The two sides are refusing to sit down with each other with no talks scheduled for the next two weeks.  Some are saying this strike might last into Spring...

Please pray for all those affected by this strike, especially those who applied for graduate work elsewhere, law school or medical school, for their applications will likely be rejected since they will not graduate on time nor have any recent grades ready.
