I would like to make it clear to all posters on this Forum, that the Rules (see third tab in upper left) have been devised to keep this Forum amicable, smooth flowing and allow for free discussion.
The purpose of the discussion is not merely to entertain the bored, but, to be a tool of the Church. We are all instructed by Christ to spread the word, to find that lost sheep and bring it back in to the fold. It is our innate duty to attempt to save each and every soul we come in contact with - be it physically in the "real" world, or in the "cyber" world.
At the end of our keyboard, are millions of souls who read our posts and our words. These posts can either garner interest, provide answers to questions previously unanswered, explain foggy notions and in the end clear the fog, open the heart, and renew the soul of the reader, bringing them one step closer to Orthodoxy.
These same words, when spoken harshly, rudely, typed with the intent to sting, belittle, humiliate, ridicule, or merely to show everyone that "I" am smarter, better, and more educated than "you"....will not bring people closer to Orthodoxy, but, will make them run in to the arms of the "enemy". By not "living" and "sounding" like good Orthodox Christians, we stand the chance of pushing someone off the narrow path. Is this what we really wish to accomplish? Not only will that poor soul be lost....but, what of YOUR soul for pushing them away from God? If you don't feel sorry for them, do you also not fear for yourselves?
I ask that you speak kindly to each other, try to understand each other...and if you don't understand or agree with the other person...at least make a step to come to a compromise, and part in peace. Why the need to prove that "you" are always right? Pride? Ego? ....all things we need to conquer within ourselves.
Readers, if you see something amiss. If any Rule is violated publicly or privately, please use the REPORT TO MODERATOR option at the bottom right of each post. Nothing will ever get corrected unless the moderators are made aware of the issues.
Having said that, do not expect that everything you report will end in the poster being warned or punished. Sometimes what we see as a improper post, is in fact within the guidelines, and perhaps necessary to make the point the poster is trying to make.
We honor freedom of speech. We realize that not all posters will agree with each other. We cannot "warn" everyone who is rude, or disagreeable. However, I ask that we try to be more patient with each other, and utilize this Forum for the good of the Church, our neighbors and ourselves.
Keep in mind, if you are being harassed or receive inappropriate PM's, please REPORT TO MODERATOR.
I promise that each and every report is reviewed diligently and only with much thought, prayer and consideration is action taken. We do not dole out warnings unnecessarily.
PM-ing each other, complaining to each other, badmouthing the Forum, is useless, unless you let the moderators know what the issues are. We cannot fix what we do not know is broken.
“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
