Dear folks,

Please continue to pray for our sister Rosehip. She is in much physical pain right now. Yet, as I heard, she is starting a very serious therapy these days, so let's ask the Lord that this therapy goes well and our sister really benefits from it!

Thank you all,

G.

Thank you, dear brother George, for posting this request on my behalf. I am so touched. And thank you, all, for the prayers. I am actually today feeling a bit improved. This morning they installed the PICC line, from which the chemo will be administered, starting next week. The installation went exceptionally well, and was basically complete within 10 minutes. Glory to God for His great mercies to us, and for wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ!

Rosehip:

As someone who has gone through two bouts with cancer in the last 18 years plus a serious heart attack three years ago and is still here, I know the power of prayer.  Pray to St Panteleimon for his intercession.  It works!  I also have a member of my family that has been HIV positive for 23 years.  I have no doubt my daily prayers to this Saint has kept him healthy all this time.

Orthodoc,

Thanks for your encouraging testimony! I also have a tremendous love for St. Panteleimon. I had never heard of him until I moved close to a forest on the outskirts of Kyiv. There was a beautiful cathedral/monastery of St. Panteleimon in this forest, and a miraculous healing spring. Folks would take their water bottles and stand in line to get this fresh, pure water-also they would immerse themselves in the waters a short walk away. Overlooking the spring was a wooden cross with an icon of St. Panteleimon. I have such good memories of this still, green forest and St. Panteleimon, and he has become a dear Saint to me too, and I pray to him often.

It's very special to me that you mention him.

O holy St. Panteleimon, pray to God for us!

O holy St. Panteleimon, pray to God for us!

I have a foster son who was born and raised in Bulgaria.  He now lives in America and a few years back worked for a company that has business ties in Lithuania (Vilnuis).  He used to travel back and forth every six weeks.  He used to attend the Russian Orthodox Church in Vilnuis.  When I came down with my second bout with cancer was around the time the skull of St Pantelium was brought to 'Christ The Saviour Church' in Moscow.  My foster son became very good friends with one of the monks in Vilnuis who travelled to Moscow to venerate the relics.  As you may or may not know this skull omits Holy Myrrh!  The monk brought back the Holy Myrrh for Atanas (my son) to send to me.  I, along with three others with cancer in my parish, were annointed.  We all went into a state of remission.  One of the ladies had the most aggressive form of breast cancer you can get.  She was given six months to live and a 40% chance of survival.  That was eight years ago and she is still here with an 85% chance of survival!  One of the others was a Roman Catholic nun (mother superior) who loved Orthodoxy and attended Saturday night Vespers, Bible Study, and Akfists in our parish for 30 years.  She also went into a state of remission and lived another five years.  It's recorded in her medical records (by her RC doctor) that she was annointed with the Holy Myrrh and by an Orthodox priest!

Faith and prayer are wonderful things.  Don't ever forget that.  Let it sustain you!

Dear Rosehip,
May God help you. I had to deal with cancer in my immediate family, and I can second Orthodoc. While the situation seemed grave, things turned up good, thanks God.
Also, with this particular illness, I would recommend this akathis to Saint Nectarios:

I remember this place. Theophania, Kyiv region. Very nice memories from there.

Yes the skull emits 'Holy Myrrh'.  At the time my son obtained the Myrrh it was taken from Mount Athos where it resides to the Cathedral in Moscow where people waited in line for many many hours to venerate it.  St Panteleimon will hear your prayers.  I will light a candle for you in front of his Icon on Sunday and you will be included in my prayers.

Lord have Mercy! St. Nektarios of Aegina has also been known to heal those with cancer.
One woman from my parish gave her non-Orthodox friend an icon of St. Nektarios before
surgery for cancer and the woman was healed before the surgery.
