Hey everyone--

I don't know if you couldn't access the board--I don't know where it is physically hosted (probably in NY).

All I know is that I was at work at 4:18 and BAM no power.  I just got it back at 7:30 ish AM.

I am travelling to NC today so I will not be here to check in.  I don't know if Phil has power, so David and Hypo are in charge right now, and in case they are not available, I am extending to Bobby our Retired Admin moderator powers until I am in NC and settled.

Thanks for your understanding.

What a nightmare.  We didn't get power back in our city til 3.30am, and since everything in my house runs on electricity...well, you can imagine.  It wasn't so bad, though.  Sure, it was kinda hot, but it also gave us a chance to visit with family and hang out with people outside.  It was rather nice.  In more pleasant weather, I wouldn't mind doing it again.  :)

Be not afraid...I am back, Hypo.  Now I'VE GOT THE POWER!!  But I'll share.  ;)

Oh, and BLAME CANADA!!  :P

Oh, definitely!  My godson just returned from a vacation trip to the Gaspe Peninsula with his family and spoke a lot of French.  I'll bet he had something do do with it--or at least his Cannuck relatives did!   :P

I hope the hospitals start gearing up in advance for the sudden increase in births they are going to have to deal with 9 months from now ;D (oh wait a minute, this only works if the weather is bad as well)

Actually, I ought to suggest this to the Greek government as a cheap way to get families in Greece to have more children ::). Routinely blacking out large areas during periods of rainfall would probably have a remarkable effect on the birthrate in Greece. Although knowing Greeks, there would probably simply be an upsurge in the sale of portable generators.

LOL...
That was my mum's reaction when she heard about the blackout...  Apparently 9 months after the big blackout in 1969 there was also a huge spike in the birthrate.
My parents' town was one of the only ones in NY State that still had electricity, as its got it's own powerplant.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
