I rember reading a number of reasons given for why the Church's New Year is September 1, but I seem to have forgotten one or two (manybe more).  I know that there is the tradition that Christ read from Isaiah and stated it had been fulfilled within hearing occured on that day, and something about creation starting on that day.  I recall something about the Israelites entering the Promised Land (which contradicts the Bible).  I recall something about Constantine and Helen.  But I've forgotten the details.  I know that it was the beginning of the indiction, or civil year, but I am interested in reasons that have to do with Church, given for instance, by synaxaria.  Any help?

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth
