San Colombano Belmonte Monks
« on: August 27, 2008, 06:05:12 PM »
Please keep in your prayers Father Sergio Baldini, Father Salvatore Magliano, Father Emanuele Battagliotti, and Father Martino Giurini, Franciscan monks from the San Colombano Belmonte monastery.  All 4 were siting down for their evening meal when they were attacked by 3 hooded thugs.  They were bound, gagged, punched, kicked and beaten with clubs.  Father Sergio Baldini is currently in a coma due to the severity of the attack, and the other three monks are recovering from their injuries in a Turin hospital.  The Monks put up no resistance and have but only meager possessions.  Father Sergio Baldini has already had to go through one operation on his skull and brain and they are unsure if another will be required.

Please keep everyone involved in your prayers.   :(

Lord have mercy!

Lord have mercy, on the monks, on their attackers, and on all of us!
"O Cross of Christ, all-holy, thrice-blessed, and life-giving, instrument of the mystical rites of Zion, the holy Altar for the service of our Great Archpriest, the blessing - the weapon - the strength of priests, our pride, our consolation, the light in our hearts, our mind, and our steps"
Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.

They were eating a dish of spinach when attacked. Fr. Sergio choked on his food while they crushed his skull. What a senseless act of evil! :'( Kyrie Eleison.

Let's also pray that the attackers don't turn out to be jihadists.

And let's leave it at that now and respect the Prayer Forum as a place of Prayer to God.
