Theophany 2002 Around the World
« on: August 04, 2003, 12:12:11 AM »
I was browsing a few parish websites in our deanery, and I found an interesting page.  Fr. Thomas Moore put together this collection of photos of Theophany celebrations around the world.  The photos include events from Greece, Russia, Serbia, and Ethiopia.

Here's one of the photos and the caption:

Postscript:

It would be fun to harness the power of OC.net and have a comprehensive version of this for 2004 including Ireland, Hawaii, Thessaloniki, Australia, and the other semi-exotic locales where members dwell as well as published photos as on that website.

Nice Theophany pics, David.

Btw, did you notice something wrong with the Festal Troparion posted?  The reference to the Lord was made once with "You" and then changed later to "Thee."  Very awkward language, to say the least!  ;D

I nominate Montana or Alaska as one of the locales!  Moscow might be a great place too.  Any takers??

Being a native Montanan, Ebor should be a good candidate!

Hypo, odd indeed, as that is not the standard OCA translation.  Perhaps a typo?

Congrats on your 700th post, David!

Yes, it must be a typo.  There's a movement afoot to replace all the "Thee's" and "Thou's" with the simple "You" in OCA liturgical translations, especially with the new stuff coming out of SVOTS.  This one only made it half-way.  ;)

Thees and Thous are fine with me.  Yous (yoohoo's as my priest says) sound stupid.
