On 21 November, the Church commemorates the feast of the Presentation of the Mother of God in the Temple.

This feast, the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple, is counted among one of the "Twelve Great Feasts" of the Eastern Orthodox liturgical calendar.

Other than Pascha and Theophany, the Presentation is my favorite of the twelve major feasts.  I guess it's mostly due to the fact that my birthday is November 21. ;)

This particular Feast is considered a monastic feastday in the East and the West -- especially for novices and beginners.   And it's an excellent day for potential novices-- monks and nuns -- to consider the monastic life.  Just a thought for this wonderful day. :)
