Farewell
« on: July 21, 2003, 10:08:24 PM »
Hi Friends!

The last year has been a great experience and a fun ride!

Recent political matter concerning a few internet forums has escalated, and it is necessary for me to relinquish my position due to recent events and to save a few friends from embarrasment.

In addition, with surmounting obligations between work, college, and soon the US Army, I am finding less and less time each day to peruse the forum, to offer my technical expertise, and to enjoy what I do, write code.

Having said that, I wish you all farewell, I hope to see some of you soon in DC, and I hope you'll keep me in your prayers.

All the best,
Bobby

I found out about what Bobby did at a few other websites.  It is wrong to do this and disgusting.  Bobby, do yourself and the world a favor and grow up.

That's rather cryptic. Coupled with what sinjin posted above it really fires my morbid curiosity.

What did you do?

Anyway, I hate to see you go, Bobby.

May God bless and keep you.

In response to some people who asked privately, I am leaving the forum for good.

However, David, fellow OC.net member, and I have embarked on a project dubbed the Global Orthodox Database.  A few months back, David began collecting information on Orthodox parishes across North America.  Compiling them into a spreadsheet, him and I are working on getting online Phase 1 of the project, a gigantic Orthodox parish database, searchable by virtually any value.  I am working on setting up a dedicated server for this endeavor.

The next phase will involve my personal favorite.  I am working on obtaining the approximate coordinates of each parish, latitude and longitude, so people can download the list to their GPS device, and actually based on where they are, have it tell them exactly where the nearest Orthodox parish is, jurisdiction and all. Also, a WAP version is in the works for cell phone users, and of course a version for Palm/iPaq.

If anyone is interested in contributing help to this project, either documentation or parish lookup help, they can contact David or myself.

Bobby

Thanks for doing this Bobby and David. You obviate my efforts at doing the same thing. Ever since SVOTS discontinued their online searchable database it's been a task for those of us who travel in working to locate parishes. Perhaps yours may also be a tiny bit more inclusive in it's "Orthodox" definition?
