We recently found out about a possible reassignment for my husband's deployment location and timeline. He would be going to THIS-OTHER-COUNTRY instead of Iraq and he would be leaving in the early fall rather than in late summer. (He has a month long training assignment in July either way at this point). If he were to go to Iraq he would be performing force/convoy protection. But if he were to go to THIS-OTHER-COUNTRY he would be using his military intelligence training. He would still be deployed for a year, but the assignment would be much different. It is mostly speculation at this point. This reassignment would be a big weight off our minds and hearts. At this point it appears that they will go forward with the change. But the National guard is anything but decisive when it comes to orders at this point. And until we have it in writing in our hands we won't believe anything. We would really like for his assignment to be in THIS-OTHER-COUNTRY. He had a deployment over in the sandbox in 2005 but the situation was different then as opposed to now. The persecution of the Church is rampant over there and my husband has been having a struggle with the idea of going over there and supporting a government that would allow our christian brothers and sisters to be treated so horribly. Please pray that irregardless of where he ends up that he can have some peace about his assignment. He is a Sgt. now, so he has to be responsible for others and he has no choice but to follow orders and lead when/where/how he is ordered to do so. (but we would REALLY like for him to go to THIS-OTHER-COUNTRY or just stay home ) (sorry for being nebulous, but I have to follow OPSEC) And either way he is out and DONE with the military as soon as he is back. Woo-hoo! Two deployments in 3 years is far too much from our point of view.

Well, he is going to the "other country!" We are quite happy about that. He leaves at some point in November for a year.
At the moment we are gearing up for his departure for 32 days of training on the 8th of July.
Thank you for your prayers. This whole orders hullabaloo has been a rollercoaster ride to say the least!

It is a one year deployment. Hopefully that adds up to 2 mths training, 9mths in country, 1 one month on lock down back in the US. Unless congress or the president says otherwise, that is the plan.

They could give him 2-3 months training, 14-15 months in theatre, 1 month lockdown, but I really hope they don't do that.

Well, my husband is back for an undetermined amount of time. He could leave for 2 months to a "high altitude survival school" in Colorado on Sept. 1st, or he could be going to language school from home until his scheduled departure for more training in Nov-Jan. I really hope he doesn't have to go to Colorado. The class is like something out of the movies; left handed shooting, driving backwards, drinking your own urine.....They climb Pike's peak every week as part of the training. It is a really hardcore grunt-grunt-spit-scratch yourself kind of class.
We know a little more about his mission. He will be part of a large MI group from across the country that will be working in the mountains. He will likely be out of contact for a month at a time in the field, if he can be in contact at all up where he will be.

He is going to the class. Hopefully he can find a good parish to attend Liturgy at. And there is an issue with a part of the course that I can't go into. It is a problem, and we are trying to have him exempted from it.

I am happy to say that my husband is back from his training for a brief time. And he was given his mission assignment and I am VERY happy with it. Obviously I can't say what he will be doing, but I can say I am very pleased.
Thank you for your prayers. We all have been adapting astoundingly well to all this change-moreso than I would ever have thought possible. The kids are doing 1000% better than I could have dreamed of. And I feel a peace that I didn't believe possible. Just 14 months until this is all over.

If you could add on any prayers for a healthy baby that would be nice. We very recently found out we are expecting baby #4. This is our 7th pregnancy. We aren't "announcing" this pregnancy until around Chrismas when we feel a little more certain that the baby will "stick" so to speak. I am an emotional wreck, so I guess that means good hormones We welcome this blessing even though my husband likely won't be home for their birth. And on the plus side we have Tricare as long as he is active army, which means the prenatal care and birth are free!
