Dear Fr.Deacon Anastasios under your avitar it mention's old calender Greek..Does that mean your under the jeruselam patriarcate...you did mention it once to me when i asked you about this,,,but i forgot what you told me,,can you refresh my memory,,Does the ecumenical patriarch recognize any other old calender greek church thats not under the jerusalem patriarcate..thank you Axios! Axios!Axios!...many years...........
In 1935 three bishops of the New Calendar Church returned to the Old Calendar and made more bishops for the many communities of those staying on the Old Calendar. Some of these bishops later returned to the New Calendar, some were imprisoned, and some died. Therefore, in 1955, there were no more bishops. In 1960-1, ROCOR bishops made new bishops for our Church. In 1969, ROCOR entered full communion with us. This relationship unfortunately deteriorated over time.
We have historically enjoyed good relations with the Jerusalem Patriarchate but we do not concelebrate with them. The Ecumenical Patriarchate generally does not recognize our orders in recent times but the JP, ROCOR, and some Serbian bishops (such as your Bp Amphilochije) do, and the OCA seems to accept that we have grace in that it lists the ordination dates of its bishop Lazar as being the date he was made a bishop in the Old Calendar Church). Of course, we do not consider nor rely on such recognition as we are separate for a reason--but I am just trying to accurately answer your question as you posed it. Pray for an end to divisions.
Yours in Christ,
Deacon Anastasios
