What is the traditional way to say the Paschal greeting and responce in your ancestral language?
For English, I've heard:
Christ is Risen!
1) He is Risen Indeed! 2) Indeed, Risen He is! 3) Indeed, He is Risen!
(Perhaps these are just different translators trying to speak English though.)
How about your language then?

Ukrainians kiss on the lips for the Pascal greeting, as opposed to alternating cheeks, as the Russians do?? I didn't know that!

1) He is Risen Indeed! 2) Indeed, Risen He is! 3) Indeed, He is Risen!
The second one is a little archaic; usually modern English does not separate to be from the participle. In Spanish: ¡Cristo se ha resucitado! ¡De hecho se ha resucitado!

Though there are other forms of traditional easter greetings in Ethiopia, this is the simplest form:
In Amharic : Melkam yefasika ba'al (=happy easter holiday) In Geez: Senay ba'ale fasika (=happy easter holiday)
I leave the other forms for other contributors.

Hristos Voskrese! Voistinu Voskrese!
About three kisses in the lips ... I am not sure but definitely in cheeks. If you have red eggs (any color may be used) it's good to Hristosovat'sya - to beat the egg by egg.

Well, in Ukraine nowadays people also tend to avoid kissing on the lips, they rather rub cheeks or kiss on the cheek. But, as my wife's grandmother used to say, "in those PEACEFUL times" (meaning before 1917, when she was a little girl), people in Ukrainian villages really kissed each other on the pips, and even a total stranger could be challenged to the egg-fight and lip-lkissing.

BTW, Galina, how do they sing in Russian what Ukrainians sing like below:
Христос воскрeсe із мeртвих, смeртію смeрть подолав, І тим, хто в гробах, життя дарував!
I believe it's called a Paschal Troparion, it's of the Greek origin and it begins, in Greek, "Khristos anesti ek nekron, tanato tanatan patisas..."

^Thanks! In Ukrainian churches, sometimes they also use Old Church Slavonic, but nowadays there is a trend to replace it more and more with modern vernacular Ukrainian. I love both.

No wonder, Old Church Slavonic is actually a dialect of Macedonian, it must be very close to Serbo-Chroatian!

Interesting about Velikden' ("The Big Day," or "The Great Day")... In Ukrainian, the Pascha Sunday is, indeed, called Velykden' (with "y" like "i" in "ship," not like "ee" in "sheep" - the Russians say 'velEEk"). In Russian, however, AFAIK, people don't use this term, right, Galina? They just say Paskha.

Well, we have a few Ukrainians and Russians in my parish, so I was able to connect Georgich with Heorhij, and I also know that many English-language learners have trouble with acronyms and abbreviations, so I guessed that was what you were asking about.

Stashko, I feel joy to read Serbian because a lot of so understandable for me - Russian. It's so true were so close...i was listening to a russian radio program in russian, about the benifits of holy confession, fasting, before holy communion ,,i swear i understood everything the lady was saying and i mean everything...i was thinking to my self wow.like people when they receive the gift of tongues to speak all known language's i must of got the gift of understanding ear's to understand her...... While growing up ,iv seen many russian clergy at the serbian orthodox monastery on our major feast day's celebrating with our clergy......God Bless Us all......Мир Божији.....Христос Воскресе,,,,Воистину Воскресе.....
