I relate this story to ask for all of your prayers for a woman whom I will not identify in case of future legal action, as well as to cite an example of how we should always be prepared for anything.
We baptized another convert last Saturday, and the neophyte had a reception at the home of a friend of his. The food was prepared by a woman, who was the child of Protestant missionaries. She had been looking for a historical church, however, and after looking into Catholicism she realized that wasn't the place for her. When she saw the baptism in an Orthodox Church, though, it got her mind going...
Anyway, at the reception I answered what questions I could and gave her my card. She promised me that she'd come by to chat with me after Holy Week. She never indicated that she'd convert or anything, but she did want to do some research....we converts know what stage she was in.
This morning she was having some sort of gall stone surgery, and a horrible mix up in anesthesia occurred. She is now brain dead, and they are expecting her to repose soon. They contacted her parents (on the hospital admissions form) as well as me, since they found my card on her person.
Anyway, please pray for her peaceful repose as well as forgiveness of any sins, and for comfort of her family as well as for the medical staff.
Thank you, all!

Just to keep everyone updated...my acquaintance lingered for a little bit longer than was thought likely, and she reposed on Pascha.

Indeed, but to die on Pascha. Even if she was not yet Orthodox, Pascha is a most blessed day on which to die in the hope of the final resurrection. May her memory be eternal!
