I'm having an awful time. I caught a cold, and whether it's bad or I'm just a sissy, it's really laying me out. I'm having a hard time praying because I can't think properly and feel like I end up just reading the prayers, unfocused. And here I am heading into my first Holy Week, and the final week before I am baptized, no less! I want this to be a week of serious preparation, not fighting illness. Please pray for me.

Lord have mercy!
Somehow, this illness will help you in your salvation. Rest now, pray as you can, and go forward knowing that everything will work out to your advantage.

Lord have mercy!
Drink lots of fruit juice and get lots of rest. Try to take a couple of days off of work if you can to just stay in bed. Easier said than done, of course.

Lord have mercy on your servant Cassiel. If you stress out too much about it, remember, it could cause your cold to worsen. Get lots 'o rest, drink lots o' liquid, and eat (talk w/ your priest about maybe having a little chicken soup...)

Thanks everybody - Glory to God, the cold is almost completely gone. A little congested, and that's all. Almost 100% better. But - is it me, or does the week before your baptism seem to invite evils to befall you? I've heard others say this, but man...first the cold, and now serious emotional heaviness (I lost my mother in August of 2007, and am still really grieving hard - the grief chose this week to flare up again in a serious way). Your continued prayers are much appreciated.

But - is it me, or does the week before your baptism seem to invite evils to befall you? Absolutely, it does. Not to scare you, but it doesn't stop afterward, either. You just gain a sense of how to deal with it. Lord have mercy and memory eternal for your mother.
