For a friend
« on: April 19, 2008, 12:13:26 PM »
A longtime friend of my brother and myself went into cardiac arrest last night and is on life support.  Pray that the Lord work His mercy and compassion on Him, that His will always be done and His name magnified, and that healing be granted to Kevin (a RC, so I ask our RC brethren to also pray for him in Church tomorrow).
"O Cross of Christ, all-holy, thrice-blessed, and life-giving, instrument of the mystical rites of Zion, the holy Altar for the service of our Great Archpriest, the blessing - the weapon - the strength of priests, our pride, our consolation, the light in our hearts, our mind, and our steps"
Met. Meletios of Nikopolis & Preveza, from his ordination.

Prayers...
An old timer is a man who's had a lot of interesting experiences -- some of them true.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Update: No good news, no quick recovery.

While on life support, he developed a serious respiratory infection (too much fluid in the lungs), and the last two brain scans have shown minimal to no activity.  They are performing another scan tomorrow (Monday), and if it doesn't turn out well, they will be extabating him (i.e. removing the breathing tubes).

He's in this position partially because of his own mistakes, partially because of the mistakes of others.  May the Lord have mercy on him and forgive him, and shine His countenance upon him and keep his soul.
