I just heard from my students that their classmate in my General Microbiology class, Jennifer L., lost her 6 months-old son earlier today. I am not sure whether the baby had been seriously ill before he died, or was it just a sudden infant death. Jennifer is an extremely nice, hard-working young woman, an African American, apparently from a low-income background. I can only imagine her desperation. She is 25 years old, a major in Nursing and Language-Speech Pathology.

Thank you for your prayers. An update: for about a week, the baby had difficulties breathing, but the family thought it was just a "bronchitis." The body was delivered to Jackson yesterday, for autopsy.
