Please find the Service at this link

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/celt-archive/message/2606

Note that it is not the same as the Greek Service.  It comes from the Russian Church.

May I ask you, have you ever seen the akathistos to Saint Patrick?

Oh, I really apologize. What I inteded to mean - if you have this akathistos available? I am just looking for it myself. I never have seen it, while I googled for it a number of times, asked different people, etc. I am really sorry that I did not construct my question well enough. I promise, if I will ever discover it, I will e-mail to you a.s.a.p.

P.S. Smiles are great!!! I love this update.

Troparion - Tone 1:
O Sebastian, spurning the assemblies of the wicked,You gathered the wise martyrs Who with you cast down the enemy; And standing worthily before the throne of God, You gladden those who cry to you:Glory to him who has strengthened you! Glory to him who has granted you a crown!

Is this service used in the Orthodox church?
It would require a blessing from the local bishop.

In both the Russian and Serbian Churches there is now an interest in the old Saints of Britain and Ireland.  Our local Serbian diocese now includes quite a few of them in the annual diocesan Calendar.

The Russian Church plans to return/include them in its Calendar and this is already happening on the Patriarchate's web Calendar.

But before a priest uses any Service which is not already printed in the Menaion he needs to get a Blessing from the bishop.

Moscow, August 21, 2007, Interfax - The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church instituted a holiday to honour Christians who lived on the islands of Great Britain and Ireland and were canonized before the 1054 schism that divided Christendom into the Western Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches.

The holiday will be an annual event observed on the third Sunday after Pentecost in the Julian Calendar.

The Synod, which met on Tuesday, also ordered that these saints' names be included in the Menology after their Christian exploits have been studied.

The Synod's decision follows an appeal of March 3, 2007, in which the diocese of Sourozh, a Russian Orthodox diocese having the islands of Great Britain and Ireland for its territory, asked the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Alexy II, and its Holy Synod to institute a holiday for pre-1054 British and Irish saints.

All Saints of Britain and Ireland pray to God for us.

Excerpt from the 7th Ikos of the "Akathist to all the Saints that shone forth in the lands of the West" (http://www.orthodoxengland.org.uk/2wardom.htm):

Rejoice, Holy Ninian, for it was at Saint Martin’s feet that thou didst learn all the secrets of monastic life!
Rejoice, for perfecting thyself in holiness thou didst become the enlightener of thy home, the land of the Picts!
Rejoice, Holy Patrick, wonderful apostle, for by thy divine zeal thou didst turn the Irish land to God!
Rejoice, for in this way thou didst make thyself the father of the Irish people, for whom thou prayest fervently to this day!
Rejoice, for countless disciples followed thee on the path of holiness!
Rejoice, among them all, blessed Brigid, for by thine unutterable love thou didst become the mother of all Ireland!
Rejoice, thou also, Holy David, wise bishop, for in Wales thou didst establish countless monasteries!
Rejoice, for on account of this the Welsh revere thee to this day as their protector before God!

Holy Father Patrick, pray to God for us!
