Holy Father Patrick, thank you for your help!

Lord have mercy on the work of His hands!

I greatly enjoyed this man's appearances and writings. Even though I didn't necessarily agree with all he said, wrote, or did, he always made me reflect.

The article has a photo of him that does not do him justice, but it must reflect some of his struggles later in life.

Writer William F. Buckley dies at 82
Conservative commentator gained acclaim for intellectual political writings

NEW YORK - Author and conservative commentator William F. Buckley Jr. has died at age 82.

His assistant Linda Bridges says Buckley died Wednesday morning at his home in Stamford, Conn. She says he had been ill with emphysema and was found dead by his cook.

Buckley became famous for his intellectual political writings in his magazine, the National Review, and his frequent television appearances, including on his own long-running “Firing Line.”

Oh wow.  I really respected him.

His TV Chats with Malcolm Muggeridge were some of my most memorable.

I always liked and respected this man.

I am not sure I supported much of his ideas. But he was a man of dignity.

A polite, calm nature albeit substantial and provocative.

May God bless his soul...Amen

May he Rest In Peace Among The Saints-  A great man with a superior intellect.  His magazine, the "National Review," established the basis for modern conservative political thought and remains the standard of such thought.  It provides facts relative to issues that are published nowhere else, either in the mainstream or conservative media.  America is in his debt.  Agree with him or not, he was well respected; one of the leading figures of the last half of the 20th Century.

William Buckley was a man of true intellectual courage. He was able to intellectually shred his opponents without personally degrading them. He had the courage to admit when he was wrong, as he forthrightly confessed about his prior stance on Civil Rights. I did not always agree with Buckley, but I always respected him. I wish that I could say the same about today's prominent journalists- on both the left and the right. When is the last time you heard a famous media spokesperson admit that they were wrong about anything?

God bless William F. Buckley- a man of faith, integrity, and intellectual courage. He stood his ground against the tide of popular secular opinion, and he always stood for the Right to Life. So, in spite of his ultra-conservative views, I will always hold him in high regard.

Y'all are aware that this thread was revived just a day ago after 14 months of inactivity?  I certainly encourage us to continue to pray for Mr. Buckley's repose, but I just thought you might like to know that Mr. Buckley's departure from us is not news.

That's why some of us are not treating it as news...
