My firm has about 100 attorneys, so we're considered "mid-size". Considering how law schools don't teach their students how to actually do research and find information, and most definitely not how to search online databases efficiently, the law librarian profession is very secure. The medium may have changed a bit, but people still need alot of help in accessing, searching and obtaining information. You'd be surprised how many attorneys who come out of law school with no idea of where to find the most basic legal information. They may have had wild and free access to Westlaw and/or Lexis while in school, but when faced with a client who refuses to pay for computer assisted legal research, they're lost. That's where we come in

Good for you! PM me sometime and tell me how you got into the field and your education. I'm a legal assistant but don't do much legal research. If I was asked to shepherdize something the old fashioned way I couldn't do it anymore.

Oh great, just what we need, another lawyer...... Congrats my friend, may the legal research always support your side (or at least give you enough to debunk the opposing counsel). In any event I was talking with my professor the other day in my tax class and he agrees more and more that accountants are essentially becoming lawyers without JDs. Its a scary thought. However, I digress, congrats again! -Nick
