Yes friends, it is that time again.
I have been working on the board code for the past few weeks and tonight around 12am EST I will be upgrading.
You may experience some interruptions at that time, but it should be working shortly after.
Some new features will be in tonight, and a plethora of bug/security fixes. Enjoy.

I at the moment of this posting I am in the chatroom (hard for me to accomplish often). Yet, other board windows I open up (including the one for the chat) all say "There are currently 0 users in our chat room." But I am there.
I don't think that should be happening should it?

It's a fluke..I refreshed another window to see and it still said "0" now it says "1".... in this one.

Chat Room - Whenever I enter the room, people say "Hi" when I come in, but they can;t seem to see anything that I post.
TonyS and I have encountered this problem twice over the last week.
Am I doing something wrong?

Yesterday, I was talking to TonyS privately, and he told me he was going to be in the chat room. I didn't join the chat room, but I didn't think he was in there, because no matter how many times I refreshed a page, it still read "There are currently 0 users in our chat room."

I was there and Bobby and Serge and others can attest to it. I too had another window of the board open and I refreshed it on various occasions and the chat information in the upper right hand corner was not consistently accurate. While I was in the room with Bobby I told him as much. There were at one time 5 of us I think. Also we seem to have lost TomS in the Matrix, I guess an agent got him.

Nothing wrong with my code.....
The problem is with the system we use for chatting. I did not write that java applet, instead we are using the one written by everywherechat.com and using their servers.
The chat meter at the top of the page which indicates how many users are in the chat room is done by polling the everywhere.com server. Apparantly, in the tests I've been running, the server count isn't always accurate. This ISN'T something I can fix.
I have e-mailed a developer of the everywherechat applet, and hopefully he can tell me if there is indeed a problem, or if it was something intermittant.

So for the time being if it shows 0 chatting that can't be trusted? I was in the room for a while before anyone showed up. Not to flatter myself mind you.
I mean if we post a chat invitation and it shows 0, folks should still go to the room as there is a chance someone is there. Am I onto something?

I can't get into the chat room from my home computer and I don't want to try that from work. On my home computer it will not take my log in but I can see my name at the bottom of the screen

As I said earlier, the chat system is a bit flaky, and unforunately it doesn't work for everyone.
This morning it seemed to be working when I tested it prior to leaving for work. It might have been something temporarily wrong with the system last night.
Either way, it isn't a bad idea to post a new thread in the Board News stating that Chat is open, times you might be in there, and possible topic for discussion. A lot of people just read the threads and don't glance at the upper right hand corner of the screen to see if anyone is in chat.
Also, don't forget that Thursday evening is our regular scheduled chat night. So drop by any time regardless, and hopefully others will show up.
As soon as I receive a response re: the applet from the developers, I will help everyone out personally.
