We spoke with our priest a few weeks ago about the deployment, some family issues, schedules and such. Due to schedule changes we can't attend the inquirers classes anymore. So we have been reading a great deal, and attending every service we possibly can. Our priest called us today and told us that although he has never done this before (accepted someone before a minimum of a year), that he will recieve us before my husbands deployment! We anticipated being recieved in about 3 years (Nativity of 2010 or so, once we could go thru the process again after my husbands return from the Middle East fall of 2009). We are really happy!
We already have our patron saints picked! Although we did have those picked for the most part before he told us about the above.
I chose Saint Xenia of St. Petersburg, my husband chose Saint Roman, we chose Saint Anna for youngest daughter Witalu, then we chose Saint Seraphim of Sarov for our son and our eldest daughter chose New-Martyr Matushka Maria of Gatchina.

Although, my daughter is really unhappy that we can't find any icon of her patron saint anywhere.

We have also commited to continuing to read and do anything we are asked to continue on in learning about the faith. My husband has literally been reading for YEARS about Orthodoxy. To a large extent, even though we both have been Christians for decades at this point, it feels like we are entirely new to the faith and we know absolutely nothing. We didn't ask to be recieved early, we asked if it was possible, but made it CLEAR that we are more than willing to wait the three years. And we are more than willing to be re-baptised even though we have both had trinitarian baptisims. We are very happy though

May the Lord bless you with continued happiness and fervor, and may He give you strength to never stop learning about the faith you love (and which loves you!).

Until you can locate your daughter's patron Saint, give her a copy of the Holy New Martyrs of Russia Icon, her patron Saint will be there among the thousands.
