Well if OC Net opens up a new language forum for Elvish, I think you're going to have very few people to talk with, but good luck on that one. Sounds sort of like learning Icelandic. I'm still trying to improve my Spanish so I can communicate with real people.

Actually, in Quenya, it's Hristo.

What's Quenya? I'm taking Spanish too, TinaG. I'd also like to take Chinese, because it sounds like bells.

What's Quenya?
The real name of what you're calling "elvish."

Quenya is the language being spoken on the video. It is the language of the High Elves, those who had gone to "Valinor" in the books of Professor J. R. R. Tolkien such as The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings There is another Elvish language: Sindarin, which is the speech of those Elves who had not crossed the Sea to Valinor. Here is a link to a course in Quenya: http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/qcourse.htmIn Quenya, there are various words/names for Christ as derived from the language such as "Laivino" - "Anointed One" and Professor Tolkien's "Elpino" - "The Chosen". As has been mentioned above "Hristo" is also used. Here is the Lord's Prayer in Quenya: http://www.elvish.org/articles/Attolma.htmlAnd in Sindarin: http://www.elvish.org/gwaith/sindarin.htmHere is a page of many links on the Professor's various languages: http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/Some might find this site interesting: http://www.elvish.org/gwaith/andries.htm It is that of an artist/calligrapher of Greek origins and includes some Christian prayers with somewhat EO art. Here's another site with a course on Quenya: http://move.to/ardalambion. At one point when I had something I vaguely remember as "free time" I was learning Quenya. Maybe I can teach Caitlin someday.

That'd be a hell of a joke: "I bet you can't say The Lord's prayer in Elvish!" Or at least, a funny bumpersticker!

Interesting! I don't know how I missed this before. And yes, my username originates from Quenya. Like EofK, I have dabbled a toe into the waters of Elven language. . . though I don't know that I will ever have any use for it.
